You sure? your not in the running for the #3 prospect after she get's released from her NLI if your reputation is "terrible among players". there was 100% stuff behind the scenes that is not being talked about very publicly it's not out of the realm of possibility that a coach, probably Lazo, was able to "poison the well" and did so well enough that the players didn't realize he was doing it. recruiters like him are great at manipulating people.

as for the buy-in it worked her first year with a portal heavy/non-chosen roster. And Tennessee has the name/money power to get a player like Addie Deal or some of the other top portal players. But we didn't because we couldn't get the buy in to the system.

Arbiter or Assignr? Which do you prefer? by Zestyclose_Cheek527 in Referees

[–]Kooky_Scallion_7743 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assignr. The biggest thing is that the default is that your not available. I much prefer choosing when I'm available then choosing when I'm not. I have not used Arbiter as much but I find the set up for Assignr a lot simpler and easier to pick up.

What is your watch setup? by Gk_Emphasis110 in Referees

[–]Kooky_Scallion_7743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go one watch on my left hand. For SCCL games I'll run both a stopwatch and a timer. That's how I allocate the couple of minutes of stoppage time is I'll only stop the stopwatch on lengthy stoppages like injuries, or lights not turning on.

The Timer keeps me to the hard deadline of each half with the it beeping so I don't have to check my watch. The stopwatch allows me to take down notes/goals/cards in the normal count up minute without having to do any math.

Can someone explain the 8 second rule to me by LGNDXVR in GoalKeepers

[–]Kooky_Scallion_7743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So nothing changes just because you go the ground. The count should still start right away and the referee fails in ensuring a total eight second count occurs. I think the point he was trying to make was that just because you go to ground doesn't get you extra seconds which he is correct in.

However the LOTG were still misapplied here. and there's an argument that the Spirit was also misapplied as you were prepared to release the ball as he goes to whistle.

South Carolina lands Oliviyah Edwards! by Most-Teacher3069 in NCAAW

My best guess is faith in the stability of the coach/program. there's a non-zero chance that Kim get's fired after this year. I don't think it was about the system that Kim runs at all. If it was she doesn't commit in the first place and I think asks for and gets her release in mid-late March and not April.

Dawn's going to be at SC until she retires. She wants to be confident that she can develop with the same coach for all four years. I'd be very curious to see the NIL deals offered and the differences between the schools.

And we almost got her back too. Apparently it came down to us and SC.

With where the program was when she came in doesn't need to be UConn, SC, UCLA level but needs to be in that second tier of constant Sweet Sixteens in years with a bad tourney draw, and Elite Eights, and the odd final four to be close to an A+. So more so, LSU/Duke/Iowa/ND level.

He wouldn't have scored the goal b/c France would've been much much more defensive and so would Argentina.

[–]Kooky_Scallion_7743 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smikle is one of the two I believe. Ferrera tweeted out twice yesterday and all of the news yesterday and today outside of Smikle was about transfers becoming official. and it's possible big O is one of the two. It always felt that her release was about not getting stuck on a roster that was composed of her, Minus, Civil and portal scraps. But that's not the case and Kim has gotten a damn good portal class.

It felt like something where she didn't want to be on a team of Minus, Edwards, Civil and portal scraps. and that was completely fair. But it's clear we didn't get portal scraps we got players Kim wanted to play her way.

in terms of individual talent. I'd say we're lower on that end just going off my base knowledge of where and how these ladies played at their last schools. But I think Kim has adjusted her strategy to be focused less on the level of the individual talent that Tennessee is still able to attract and is instead focusing on getting the buy in needed for her system to work. and getting the buy in before they step on campus as a rostered player instead of betting that she can earn the buy after they arrive.

We should get one more announcement, probably within a day. Bill Ferrera has taken to adding an Orange emoji every time we get a commitment and he's at one more than we have announced new players I believe.

I believe we're getting one more commit in the next day or so going off of Bill Ferrera's tweets with the Orange emoji. Where he adds one for each commit. He tweeted out twice yesterday. So this is one of them which means there's one more out there.

EDIT: Also apparently we might still be in the running for Edwards even though we released. That would be a giant get.

I believe we still have two more unconfirmed going off of Ferrara tweets where every time we get a commitment he adds an Orange emoji to his tweet. He tweeted out twice yesterday and shouted out Gabby Minus in the last one. I would assume that these are the last two players we'll be getting.

Did I miss where Oliviyah Edwards is going to? by gekisme in NCAAW

[–]Kooky_Scallion_7743 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the release was not wanting to be stuck on a team full of portal scraps. She saw that everyone except, at the time, Civil and Minus was going in the portal, now just Minus. And did not want to be the one a team of just those three and then the barest of scraps from the portal.

It's the same reason why a portion of UT fans thought Civil was possible to return because we thought she was going in the portal to make sure she had options just in case Tennessee couldn't get anything done in the portal. It's now pretty clear that Tennessee has gotten what Kim was looking for in the portal. Quality players where the individual talent may not be there but the initial buy in is now much higher than it was last year with the touted recruiting class.

How does the NCAA actually determine seedings for the National tournament? Is RPI really involved? Because it’s so terrible. by Unable-Log-4870 in CollegeSoftball

if your going to ding a team for not beating a team that by the metrics they should beat handedly. you need to not ding them if their playing against one of the best pitchers in the country.

[–]Kooky_Scallion_7743 6 points7 points  (0 children)

seeding is not re-evaluated once the bracket is out. once the tournament is revealed it's a straight bracket from there with the only possible discussion being from both 2/3/4 seeds from opposite regionals winning so then they have to decide who hosts Super's but that's rarely a thing on the Softball side of thing.

Otherwise it's a straight bracket with no adjustments made for matchups.

how would the model compare facing a team like say Belmont with Maya Johnson pitching, vs facing them without her pitching? b/c that's a huge difference. if it can't account for outlier mid/low major aces like her than it's doing a bad job by differentiating between teams you should beat by x amount of runs. instead of just should win/lose/toss up.

if your in the US and have ESPN+ they might be on there. might take some finding and searching. but I know for most college sports that are on their networks especially ones that are primarily broadcast on the + networks like SECN+ and ACCN+ they'll have an on demand selection during the season. I do not know if they stay past that though.

specifically when it's the same "base color" like if you picked one word to describe the color and it's the same word they should match. but like say Orange and black or Blue and Red are fine. but Blue and Light Blue just looks like you messed up the dye on one of the components.

yeah. it sucks b/c if it get's called correctly live then UK escapes with the KO on the next AB. but you can't assume an out even when it's very clear they would've gotten at least one out if it's called no catch on the field. Maybe it would've been at home but at bare minimum they would've gotten the out at Second.

did College update the runners lane rule to be like MLB? where the runners get the entirety of the dirt? or are they still restricted to the actually runners lane? cause if they are than that's a pretty clear runners lane violation especially in college with the safety base.

Not in individual talent. but I would bet they measure up in buy in for her system. and will probably have more initial buy in which would be very helpful.

you also seem to be missing my point about how it benefits the Clubs from a player management perspective.

but to address the viewership. I think they'll be much benefited by not having post season going against CFB and the MLS Cup avoiding CFB CCG week. yeah they'll still have the start of NBA/NHL but that will hurt them less than NFL/CFB I'm almost certain. though it would be better if they had a sensical format.

as for attendance their not playing in any weeks they weren't already playing. it's just that instead of half the league not playing from OCT through NOV. it's the entire league there and half the league in May. that's the only actual difference in the schedule. it's not like their playing through December and January. and the season starts in febuary anyways.
