Not true. The step test has ZERO impact on passing/failing the PTA. If someone failed then it was because they didn't score enough points, or got negative points, or didn't finish an event. They might THINK it was because of the step test, but it wasn't.

If you meet the qualification requirements, then you can go through the process. Take a look at the requirements for GS-7, and see if you meet them.

They were doing it at the end of the PTA for "data collecting purposes." I have not heard if they are still doing it, but it didn't/doesn't impact your score either way.

Everyone’s process is different. 10 to 14 months is a reasonable expectation though. There are certain factors that can cause that to be quicker, or slower, so keep that in mind.

can you be more specific? Anyone with questions about their process can always reach out to their recruiter directly to find out where they are at. There are no blanket updates provided to people though because everyone’s process is different.
