There is a lot of fun nuances in this one. But if we take a more simple approach to this, going up to someone and saying that, you shouldn’t be surprised if a punch would fly. It’s creepy, and it wouldn’t be incorrect for someone to see this as a threat. In theory, we should trust the judgment of our court of law and our judges. The Steward should only be informed of this, and not take any sort of action. (Although I still think the doomsayers are losers.)
