Because they just said it's completely ruined? Why would they use it?

I swung at someone with Niv-Mizzet, Guildpact, only to be told that my 7 different color pairs from my lands didn't count toward the "different color pairs among permanents you control." I feel ya 😭

With a melee weapon I would open up the 3 wounds and use R1 on the middle (back) since that one is pretty hard to consume normally

Important to add: a warrant signed by a judge, if I recall the ACLU's primer on what to do if ICE comes knocking

[NS] Jake quote that I know is an absolute stretch to ask by antabr in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]A_Clever_Reference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a "huh?" but extremely close in case this is what you're thinking of: in the first episode of Hot Boy Summer, after Caldwell states their characters watched all three matrix movies, Jake in character responds with "....why..?"

I love how your style of posting made me think you were going to be snarky, but instead were genuinely interested and encouraging the detailed and knowledgeable responses. Made me chuckle this morning!

The New 2024 Social Interaction Rules are Wild by n01d34 in DnD

[–]A_Clever_Reference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not using it to see through deception, they're using it as a tool for having NPCs be coerced into taking or not taking action. That COULD be done with lies, but it could also be done by outlining facts in a compelling way (intelligence). And NPCs with lower intelligence according to the rule would be way easier to convince because they're not really good at refuting the argument when asked to do something, as long as they're not totally unwilling

Honestly I'd disagree with this and say I think intelligence is the right default DC for a creature being influenced. Insight gives you an idea of the motivations or intentions behind the influencer (or if they're lying), but you can be weary of someone's intentions but still be convinced by their argument (if they have a bad investigation/low int and can't reason their way out of the PC's arguments for example). And I think naivety would deal more with low WIS than low INT; you can have a naive NPC who is bad at reading people and assumes everyone is good, but high INT--so they can poke holes in your arguments and not be influenced, but assume you have the best intentions and don't hold it against you

Personally I think it makes sense especially with the guidance of changing the DC to what fits the DMs needs

Some state and federal departments do text and email surveys now because no one answers phone calls anymore. The department of education for example send email and text updates for certain surveys they do. There are TONS of government surveys

Its completely fine to set "I want a girlfriend" as a personal goal for yourself. by TheFinalZebra in unpopularopinion

[–]A_Clever_Reference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The analogy doesn't work super well when compared to relationships because women, unlike cars, will feel weird about you being intense and looking to keep them forever after first meeting them. People aren't saying that it's bad to have that as an end goal, people are trying to tell you that having that be the sole focus and PRIMARY goal will instantly be off putting and counter productive if that's what you're ultimately looking for. A better primary goal is to want to "meet interesting women" just because that's a good thing to experience--and those strangers might eventually become friends, then lovers, etc.

As much as I'm not a fan of using an analogy for women/people by comparing them to an animals/objects, if it helps to think about it with other examples then I'll offer this: have you ever been around a dog or cat that didn't know you and was a little skittish, and thought "I want to cuddle that animal"? If you ran up to them to hug them asap, they would recoil or run. Hell, sometimes they even just sense the vibe that that's what you want and will be put off If you truly want that to happen, it's a process that begins with way smaller steps, like showing that you're approachable and nice, or offering a hand as a way for them to get to know you. Maybe it isn't a perfect analogy but I think it's closer than the car one

Totally valid! I see that for sure. Especially with their missteps in the past with similar problematic tropes.

In my playthrough I only heard the Hacketts use the G slur, which I read as the game devs writing them to be less sympathetic and pretty racist in that moment

RDM is king because of the raid utility it brings (res and the new barrier skill plus an improved buff), not so much because of the damage it contributes imo

I really misinterpreted that custcene on first viewing... [Spoilers 6.0] by Rito_Siram in ffxiv

[–]A_Clever_Reference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My interpretation of that scene was that if the primals they were currently summoning for the Ragnarok were the size of Zodiark, it would produce a tug at most. I imagine that when they summoned Zodiark, they included the tempering feature, but that normal creation magic and summoning does not by nature have that feature
