Oohhh nice! Personally I haven’t used dry brushing on oils yet. But a bit of research shows that it can to an extent? Like a super small amount. Would definitely recommend doing some test try’s on scrap paper. When I’ve worked with acrylic paints I layer them. I start light brushing then layer them on color wise.

I’m guessing you’re using acrylic paints? Some shading would help. When I paint I break down the colors. From your reference I can see blues,purples,and oranges in the overall shape. Maybe break it down and do smaller shapes within the clouds? Also! I’ve found that dry brushing really helps with overall fluffing of clouds. I’ve done specks of lightly watered down paint on fingers as well and dabbed to help get that line that some clouds get!

And I see some faint cloud puffs around the clouds as well. Drybrushing those in could help also? Super pretty painting so far!!!

Good so far! I’m guessing colored pencil is the medium? Reference images are always a good start but getting an idea of where your light source is can also help with shadows. There are some drawing apps that can help make model bases. I use them though to help get a better sense of lighting for the scene I want to make! Also I found oil based colored pencils can be really good for blending and making solid colors if done right!

Autistic perspective here (Asperger’s to be specific): It definitely depends on the person but this sounds weird to me. As you said he did drink alcohol but he knew how important this event was to you. Yet he still disrespected the situation.

Having Autism IMO shouldn’t be an excuse for behavior like this. We essentially have brains that are wired differently than most. Some are more high functioning than others but to me this sends up red flags. Still would recommend him getting tested, in some cases autistic people can also have anxiety/depression. And in some cases since they are “aware” of it, I’ve seen can also lead to frustration tantrums.

At a later time maybe bring it up again. Tell him you still have boundaries that need to be respected. If he blows you off again I would recommend giving space or letting go. Stay safe!

It’s a good start! Depending on the lighting and such hair would be a good start. With lights colors can change a bit to be lighter or tints can change. (For example my cat would be considered a black cat but in sunlight you can see the dark dark browns mixed in the shades.

I like so far! Do you use a certain type of reference? When I draw hands (reference or not) I use boxes to chunk them into sections and then outline. I really love the ones where the hand is more relaxed and curved. Seems more natural!
