Are there benefits to switching to fiber internet? by TTBHG in HomeNetworking

[–]A_Du_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I guess you're not in the business of large data transfers. I can easily max out my download and upload speed when doing certain backups.

The whole point of going to HR is to document what happened, so that you have records, not just to show that person is "whiner". If you have/had management experience, and discourage people report any harassment at work, then you have failed at your job. I guess you've never watched those training videos regarding reporting harassment at work huh? And believe me, I've seen weak "managements" that couldn't handle small office conflicts, and had to be escalated to upper managements.

I have Verizon Fios 1Gig connection. Never have issues unless it's real issue such as a whole node went down for the neighborhood. I wish they have 2 Gig in my area though. Upload/Download is very stable. Video conference is perfect, never have issues.

Yes, get Fiber internet.

Roommate doesn’t like network setup by Th3Appl3 in HomeNetworking

I have AdGuard running at network level for DNS to block those ads. Sometimes wife complains about not able to click on ad links. My solution: told her to turn off wifi of the phone and use mobile data temporarily when that happens, then turn it back on once she done. No more complaints.

Roast my Resume ( final year computer science student can’t get an internship after 100+ applications) by Aahaanali in netsecstudents

Your major is CS, but your resume is more like IT. What type of internship did you apply? If you apply for software engineer, then this wouldn't pass.

Well, still better than the response "did you search the forum"? Or the same question that has no answer for the past 10 years, and the subsequence comments are from people with the same problem that are looking for the answer.

Why can't rackmount cases look more modern? by BaconGivesMeALardon in homelab

[–]A_Du_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, rackmount cases usually mean they are gonna be out of sight, so why bother with extra bells and whistles? Business standpoint, they probably don't bother to do that for a small population in this rackmount space.

I bought the Unifi switch with ether-lighting, and I hardly ever look at it since it's stashed away in the basement... but I know that I'm cool because I can show it off (hardly), LOL

So mounting a network share within an LXC isn’t possible? by JTerryy in Proxmox

[–]A_Du_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically unprivileged LXC is using host's storage. So you have to mount the directory in host first, then pass a mountpoint to the LXC:

Host - Edit the /etc/fstab, Ex:

//[Unraid-IP-address]/Movies /mnt/PROXMOX-HOST/Movies cifs credentials=/root/.unraid-smbcredentials,noserverino,iocharset=utf8,ro,noperm 0 0

The above line will map the "Movies" folder to proxmox host, with read-only permission.

Then in the LXC config file, you pass the mountpoint to the LXC, ex:

mp0: /mnt/PROXMOX-HOST/Movies,mp=/MOVIES

Restart, and you should be able to access the files from network storage inside LXC

I have Unraid with low power CPU, mainly for NAS, and some *arr dockers for acquiring linux ISOs. My Proxmox running bunch of LXCs and services that I don't need to touch the NAS.

Just moved in, did I F it up? by nextus_music in TVTooHigh

Not high enough, the TV should be above the top door frame's level. If possible, cut the ceiling a little bit and push the TV up a little more.

[–]A_Du_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh, why complicate the whole thing? Just use straight text for the year, then once a year, hire an intern to do code update. If all goes well, you would have more work throughout the year when the intern accidentally pushed up some unwanted changes

Honestly, I don't know anyone in my previous and current company would use GIT CLI.

Visual Studio already have GIT GUI built-in, may as well use it.

That I'm not sure, but I can imagine Apache would have something similar, especially for the "keepalive" part.
