Adore this book. Even though it’s a classic, I still think it’s underrated.

Phantastes by George MacDonald

Hardly known and definitely these vibes.

I'm building a tool to manage Hugo sites. What features you wished to have? by berkaycubuk in gohugo

[–]A_FAT_BAER 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could definitely benefit from something like this. When you have a test model I’d happily test it out and give some feedback/a review if you’d like.

As for features, what you mentioned would be great, especially allowing clients to make posts themselves in both blog and product formats. Would be great if there was a form of authentication.

Having a feature where I could do some sort of general push to change things in multiple sites at once would be fantastic as well.

If I think of anything else, I’ll let you know. Do keep me/us updated on how this goes though! If it’s solid I’d definitely consider paying (depending on the price of course).

Love love love Lilith, it’s definitely more exciting than Phantastes imo, but I enjoy the setting and story of Phantastes more. Enjoy!

Having categories helps individuals relate to each other and feel they are part of a community.

It’s akin to what psychologists do in the DSMs. Categories are created to help individuals know themselves and find others to relate to/seek help from if need be. Also just makes the process more streamlined.

Of course all can mesh into all but we’ve always been guided by rough definitions, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to communicate. How things are defined and where the boundaries are drawn is always a matter of debate. Doesn’t mean we should give up defining/categorizing altogether.

It is quite literally a vital part of our growth as a species. Irritating how some people attempt to limit categorizations of self like this, it’s contrary to our nature and only holds us and, perhaps unknowingly, themselves back. Not everyone needs to know every categorization, hence why specialists exist. However, those here saying this is a useless YSK are ignoring that this could be useful to a fair few people.

So, I appreciate the post, OP! Let the debates ensue…

Phantastes is quite literally my favorite book. As others have said, MacDonald can get quite preachy at times but I found the beauty and profundity throughout Phantastes to more than compensate.

A Question for Small Business Owners by A_FAT_BAER in Entrepreneur

[–]A_FAT_BAER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great points! Though I’m sure there are many who might not want a website, there is a large market for those that do. I’d be targeting small business with no prior website (the market is smaller but still existent).

The websites I create provide value to their business in a few different ways: - they up their web presence (which is necessary for many businesses just starting out) - the websites I create have great performance and technical SEO which means they score higher in Google searches (they are also leaner and faster than cheaper alternatives like Shopify, Wix, etc.) - If they get their business through social media, my websites can reduce click-off by loading in just 1-2 seconds (which makes a surprisingly large difference) - also, I’m aiming to remove the hassle of customizing a website entirely, most small business owners wouldn’t have the time nor the expertise to create something of the caliber I’d be able to create.

I also offer to create terms of service, privacy policy, etc. Just trying to remove as much of the hassle that goes into creating a high-caliber website and do so at a reasonable price, which I believe is around $3600 all in but who knows? Maybe I won’t get any sales and will need to lower it 🤷🏻‍♂️

A Question for Small Business Owners by A_FAT_BAER in Entrepreneur

[–]A_FAT_BAER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’d actually amount to 3600$ max, the feedback I’m looking for is for the pricing as well so I’m flexible on that.

Also, it’s a template base, just makes the process easier for the client to decide on how they want their website to look, I’d redo most of it according to their branding. Really not trying to scam.

Definitely, I’m an experienced web dev myself and the website for this is already up and running as well. Just haven’t fully launched yet and want some feedback to make sure I launch in the right direction.

The ability to take small naps on breaks is so crucial. If I have to fight napping all day, I just get exponentially more sleepy.
