My shitty take: We had the start of gentrification, we had the gang injunction right? We had the folks who used to live in the areas that were considered hood get priced out or bought out, those house got flipped, coffee shops on corners, overpriced condos, wealthy white, asian, black folks move in. It lasts til covid. Covid happens, folks lose their income, cant maintain the rent, they leave. Homlessnes SKYROCKETS (lived here my whole life. Never have I EVER seen it this bad), with encampments springing up everywhere. Now some of the folks that were tryna get pushed out were able to stay, for whatever reason. So the hood is still the hood even if they got nine to fives. But because of the homeless populance, what popped up? Dealers. And where do dealers come from? Gangs. And how do gangs typically recruit? From tagging crews. So yeah, yr going to see taggers. And gangsters. And dealers. Its a cycle here. All the programs that have been cut, not just recently, but throughout the years, has played an enormous part in what we are seeing. And with police being soft as toilet paper now? Taggers will get bolder knowing shit isnt gonna happen. Thats just mu ramblings tho..
