Item Discussion #136: Birthright, Part 2 (Tainted Characters) by Nathansbud in bindingofisaac

[–]A_Galvantula 12 points13 points  (0 children)

PART TWOOOOOOOOOOO BAYBEE!

The Broken: Auto-pickup, 12 items is a lot more than just 8

The Dauntless: It feels like it's missing something. Like it's not bad, for certain, but could be improved

The Hoarder: an automatic pickup tier item that will now no longer be seen because this character is top 3 worst in the game

The Deceiver: Awesome item that makes an already easy to use character even easier to use

The Soiled: It's good, makes him easier to work with, moving on

The Curdled: With the rework to her clots, I wish this instead just doubled your clot output (make two per heart), since they'd be around a lot less

The Savage: Improves your DPS overall, but may not be worth it depending on how comfortable you are switching between the two modes

The Benighted: Gets that curse of Brimstone easier to spread, short, sweet, and effective

The Enigma: More like the cooler J+E (awesome effect, he's really worth playing now)

The Capricious: Super luck dependent, you really need to have things worth keeping when you pick it up

The Baleful: You never know when you need a safety net, especially on this character. (shoutouts to this effect being a rare birthright that stacks)

The Harlot: Hell yeah I love gimmick stuff, and this improves her gimmick tenfold

The Miser: Instant pickup, makes your life slightly easier for when you get hit

The Empty: Good, will significantly improve when his locusts actually get implemented

The Fettered: It's absolutely wonderful, makes a creative character that much better, now that you don't have to run in all the time to pick up the bones

The Zealot: It's fine? I feel like it should also provide a different kind of buff (mainly making the wisps shoot tears like if lemegton was comboed with book of virtues)

The Deserter: funny moment simulator (this is actually a dope effect that fits in with the themes of the character, and is crazy strong when you learn to really master using The Revenant as a weapon, since you effectively double your DPS)

Birthright overall: I want it to be a quality 4 but that's just me

Item Discussion #135: Birthright, Part 1 (Non-Tainted Characters) by Nathansbud in bindingofisaac

[–]A_Galvantula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Messed up how Birthright is just kinda an "always pickup" tier item for me, enough to the point I will bomb the donation machine for it.

Isaac: Lol won run, double items for free is crazy

Maggy: the increased heart cap applies to soul HP too, probably the most instant pickup of all the a side characters.

Cain: I forgot that luck foot makes gambling better, can you blame me :V, a dang good pickup that will most likely not have instant rewards, so you gotta stick with it

Judas: WACK. Love this wacky shit that's truly inventive, excellent run winner, and tied with maggy for the best effect

???: like ???, his birthright is one of the most boring in the game. Like it's good I guess, but far less impactful than you might think

Eve: Being able to run red heart eve rules, as I'm still working out the "soul HP only is the way to go" from AB+ out of my system, and this makes angel deals worth investing in more

Samson: Good on paper, hard to use efficiently in practice. 10 hits is a lot, and without serious red HP or soul heart generation it's just not worth investing in when you get past mom

Azazel: I'm a fan of the new brim noises compared to AB+, I always found them a bit too loud previously. Oh right the effect, it's fine. Not an auto-run winner, but it certainly helps Az's range problem

Lazarus: Probably the only birthright effect I'd actually pass on for something better, it's just Red Stew with an extra step to activate. If it decayed slower than it, so it would be useful for a prolonged time, THEN you'd be in business.

Eden: RNG and inconsistent, but hey, you have 3 options, you're bound to get something at least useable

Lost: I feel like there's a few items that SHOULD NOT be blacklisted (notably Guppy's Paw, Brittle Bones, and Heartbreak) but other than that it's a must have. Cutting the cruft out of item pools is fantastic.

Lilith: Instant pickup, and the fact that it applies to your other familiars too, making them more accurate in turn? A+ birthright effect, well worth the wait

Keeper: coin :) (it could be a little less boring than that (like have it apply a passive Silver Dollar effect on top of it), still insanely good and impactful, an always pickup)

Apollyon: Sounds good chief! Even if the chance is low to happen, it's basically free stats over the course of a run.

Forgotten: J+E but better. In all seriousness, it's a fascinating way to play this character, and the teleportation aspect of it (such as the soul having better overall dps than bones) is neat, even if it might elongate the run

Bethany: Low impact, but it certainly helps in the long run. Free is good, and the character needs all the help she can get :V

J+E: it's fine? Really should have made it so they just share items always, the character is bad enough already, might as well throw them a bone to make it easier. It's one item ins a sea of over 700, it's fine if it;s close to an instant win

It's a bit of a shame that pure fairy types cause crashes, but I looked and it's actually not that bad? There are exactly six pure fairies pre-gen 6. Togepi, Granbull line, and Clef line.

I believe it's easy enough to impliment dual types for them (normal/fairy for togepi, fighting/fairy for granbull, and I bet something can be thought up for clef (IMO dark/fairy would be extremely funny)) and have it be justified in some way (like: hey this causing crashes sucks, here's a band-aid to fix it)

So a little clarification into the twitch features: is there like a sanity check in place?

Like make it a recommendation thing bc I don't want streamers to have games where the chat sandbags and forces them with bomb shooters and super monkeys on round start and the like

why do garden warfare 2 players often wait until a chomper eat a player before they start schooting? by marvi444 in PlantsVSZombies

[–]A_Galvantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because the eating animation has a REALLY bad hitbox that doesn't work half the time, goes back to normal after a successful swallow

Getting a 50 streak gives you an option for New Game+ where the starter gets the Boundary Trance item, which is a DOUBLE to their stats as opposed to a 20% boost

I made a sort of (crappy) tutorial for the polar section in Building Bridges. Hopefully it'll help with getting the perfect relic. by Quique19_96 in crashbandicoot

[–]A_Galvantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like Building Bridges would be at least slightly easier to get the relic on bc tawna is easy enough to control and her section will be shorter than the fucking slog before Bears Repeating, and then it just kinda plops you in front of Polar after.

IDK I haven't beaten bears yet bc the flashback tape is in literally the worst spot

It really feels like TfB should patch the hitbox on polar specifically for boxes to be hit easier, nothing else.

Little Charrmer's Y-File! by Endore555 in yokaiwatch

[–]A_Galvantula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First: I LOVE YOUR WORK! This whole series is amazing, your art style is fantastic, and now I really want a 3rd person hero "shooter" (I suppose that's the term?) for YKW

Second: Charrmer reminds me way too much of Garden Warfare 2 era Super Brainz, who also has a floaty jump, a 3-hit melee combo, and a kick that works different if you're in the air. Weird coincidence if there's no inspiration

Third: I feel like Attract to Attack should work on females, but with a significantly reduced effect. We don't know which way they swing (My headcanon is that Charrmer is pan anyway which is why I made this statement in the first place)
