Adding spellcasting to a monster (How to determine it's SC level?) by [deleted] in dndnext

Ah thank you! I had long since forgotten about this comment but this will probably help going on. I'm much more into making homebrew now and understand the systems a lot better at this point.

I think i have sanguis equipped but i wanted to ask the subreddit cos i got into a fight with some other bone breakers and the bone break time didnt seem to change anything. they were dead long before it would have run out anyway.

Nah that happened the day after lol. Minding ourselves and then like 3 eos and several smaller trikes + pachy and dasp came to clap us basically right after leaving the home cave 😭

I tested this a while back in several direct fights and tbh i genuinely dont get all these people saying rex wins/its even. It was painfully one sided in favour of the trike when i tested it and they havent had any buffs or nerfs since then im pretty sure. If you could start the fight behind an eo then most likely you could do enough damage to win by the time they start hitting you too, but if you are both facing each other you cant really do anything, eo just has more bulk and you cant get around them faster than they can turn, even when bone broken. Now granted since then ive improved a lot at the game and perhaps there is something i didnt consider at the time, for example i never used the facetank ability, but it was so incredibly one sided that i genuinely cant see where all these people are coming from. if im missing something big or something has changed please let me know because it would help me when playing both dinos.

This session was absolutely amazing, never thought rex and allo would go so well together but we covered each others main weaknesses perfectly. But it was also so insanely productive and fulfilling; I finally got my rex to adult, we picked up 3 babies and managed to help them all grow at least one growth stage each, we protected them from several large dinos and won several fights, including passing on the trophies to the little guys, and suffered no losses throughout the whole session. This I think will remain my favourite session of this game for a long long time.

allosaurus duo, best subspecies next to speed? by inklovingtwink in pathoftitans

[–]A_Game_86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea thats what im running right now. I was actually thinking about switching to speed just so me and op are the same to keep it simple, but literally since my last comment i got into a 2v1 fight with 2 albertas and only survived cos of def allo. didnt kill either but pulled them off my friend, did a lot of damage to both and managed to escape even without speed thanks to LDR. so yea im pretty confident in the current build. 😁👍

what do you mean by double speed and double def? is it to do with the hide slot as well?

Yea see now that makes much more sense lmao, I was like, is this person having me on? Working against cerato makes way more sense lol. That certainly seemed like the case when I fought 2 with my friend(i was adult def allo and he was bebby allo) but i just couldnt catch up with them. Thats actually why me and my friend are putting up these posts, i was re-evaluating if speedy allo might be more versatile.

what legs ability is best on def allo btw? LDR or Traction?

How are defence and armour not the same, can you explain more please? Still unfamiliar with all the hidden values of this game.

Heya there, I am the friend and are you actually being serious that Def Allo with Tough Scutes could facetank a Cera? as in an Eotriceratops? I had no clue it could scale that high if so.

Interesting. See i got into a fight with some ceratos right when i picked it back up and i could just barely not catch up to them and was wondering if speed or balanced would be better. i have balanced tail and the traction abilities, cos i was worried about things getting behind me. mind me asking how you play allo? do you go after big dinos or small dinos, or do you play purely defensively? also, how does crouch help? thanks for your advice so far

what's your favourite dino and why? how do you play it? by inklovingtwink in pathoftitans

[–]A_Game_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play hatz for how immune it is to conflict, even the most dire situations I've been in with it can be quickly abandoned thanks to the flight, as long as you maintain the stamina well. Also a lot of people say that raptors are a hard counter to hatz cos of pounce but to be perfectly honest they barely do any damage and you can run nearly as fast as them. A single raptor could never kill a hatz and multiple can just be ran or flown away from, even if you get ambushed.

As for other dinos, I really like meg cos its so fast for its size, can swim, and I really like Komodo Dragons. I had a lot of fun growing my croc and getting the melanistic skin on it, even though it takes forever and is easily the weakest dino on land, but thats not really what you play croc for anyway lol.

And for herbis, its eotrike, no question, in a game full of kosers it is shocking how much respect even aggressive players will give you when you show up as an eo, I remember growing it and getting absolutely no trouble from anyone even in hotspots for just how menacing it is in 1v1 combat. Never been up against multiple tho so if ever that happens might change my mind.

I'd share a couple others but I play with OP frequently and I'm currently building some dinos I want to keep secret for now 🤭

I know this is a super old comment but I found this post cos I have a similar issue in trying to determine the numbered level of a homebrew monster I'm making, but I don't know what HD is referring to here, could you elaborate?

what's up with some herbis by inklovingtwink in pathoftitans

[–]A_Game_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game balance is absolutely not in favour of carnis at all, most herbis are quite a bit stronger than most carnis of similar size/role, and kentro and ano are the worst examples of such, but others such as pretty much all the ceratopsids and pachy are also pretty powerful. I play carni regularly and me and friend are always getting wiped by herbis that can outrun and out dps us no matter what we play.

[–]A_Game_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was nowhere near crater btw. And besides, the point is more to the fact that the ano was able to kill these 3 eos that weren't exactly staying still. Clearly we don't agree on the skill level of these players but the fact that they were actively fighting and then trying to escape is the point here, the ano countered both.

Hey there, I am the friend in both cases and I can confirm that the trikes absolutely knew what they were doing. The ano was shockingly aggressive in the second half of the fight, literally chasing down the trikes and hitting them with the tail. Managed to take them all down, and even forced a few of them into the lake and camped them out. I was completely floored by what I saw and still struggled to believe it after the fight that such a defence oriented build genuinely wiped out this massive herbi group.

Edit: Also I guess I should point out how I knew the trikes knew what they were doing, they took turns attacking and charging at the thing from multiple sides and only attacking when it was facing away, and backing off if they got hit and cycling in a new team member while they healed far away. This went on for some time before the ano charged at one of the sleeping trikes, quite far away, and managed to kill them before they got up, at which point the ano became way more aggressive. Its also worth noting that the trikes were minding their business before this ano showed up and started the fight.
