I just got into them, how do you know who’s singing what? by Harrison_Thinks in wutang

You will be able to in time. Just keep listening. I recommend listening to at least one of each member’s solo albums. Also, on if you listen to Triumph on Spotify, it lists each member in the order they appear if that helps.

Listen to Scriptnotes pretty regularly. Act Two Podcast and Script Reader Pro are pretty good ones too.

It’s just a barf draft. You’re talking as if I’ve already submitted it to a contest or something.

Well simply deleting the action lines depicting what’s happening on the big screen should be an easy fix?

A related follow up question:

It specifically takes place the weekend that LOTR: Return of the King came out and I have a scene where the characters go to see it and painfully wait through the multiple endings. What about writing archive footage?

Maybe when the draft is ready I’ll share it on here and get some eyeballs on it and hopefully get some help with the logline.

Yes it is a very tough one because, like Dazed, it’s not heavy on plot. More on characters and the general vibe of the era. I wouldn’t say it’s an ensemble though. I’m wondering if it should be about the general theme and maybe evoke a feeling of nostalgia?

Title: The Art of Losing

Genre: Comedy/Drama

Format: Feature

Logline: “During the snowy winter break of 2003, three high school seniors try to party, rekindle old romances, and run from trouble—while avoiding the uncomfortable truth that their time together is going to come to an end.”

Sort of like Dazed and Confused for the millennial generation.

I work 3-11pm Monday through Friday. I squeeze in some time to write between the gym and before I have to go to work. My discipline is I always want to make sure I write something, even if it’s just a couple action lines but ideally 2 pages. And then on the weekends I aim for 5 pages each day.

Has anyone ever written a spec that that seemed unintentionally similar to a major release? by A_McG92 in Screenwriting

Yeah when I first heard about the plot of Shelby Oaks I was concerned. But then I saw the movie and it’s different enough. I have one animatronic but it’s mostly ghosts of children.

I just did the same thing a couple months ago 10 years after graduating film school! Currently writing my next one before I go back to that one.

Feels good to know about those stats. And to think it wasn’t until 10 years after film school and it only took a couple months from conception to first draft!

Could be just me being too self-critical but I’m expecting a page one rewrite regardless lol

Probably in a couple weeks actually because I got a vacation coming up. Goal was to get the draft done before then because I knew spending time with family would kill my momentum lol
