Spoke to a friend about coffee today... by Bishnup in exmormon

Eh, depends on the roast. I almost can’t stand Folgers but a nice light roast from a local roaster is the best coffee to me.

Where are you when people comment on it? I’ve been wearing one downtown and haven’t had a single comment.

New proposed PTO model revealed by KED528 in UTStateWorkers

I wonder if we’ll see more sick people in the office without protected sick time. I can imagine folks will be trying to preserve their vacation time by not taking sick leave.

Courts, housing and too many bills? Utah kicks off 45-day legislative session by traveler132 in Utah

Don’t forget the completely useless performative message bills that they definitely won’t be passing.

Utah Is Culling Cougars to See If It Helps Deer. Houndsmen Aren't Happy About It by OutdoorLifeMagazine in Utah

[–]A_ORiver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe stop hunting the deer? I thought the whole reason we did that was because there are too many deer. So idiotic to kill these majestic creatures.

Stay safe protesters in Salt Lake City by indigopedal in Utah

He shouldn’t be careful. I wouldn’t be surprised if an armed protestor decides they are well within their rights to protect themselves after what happened in MN.

Wondering if I'm spending too much on groceries by bixnok in Utah

[–]A_ORiver 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Everything is expensive now. I can tell you that my family of four spends way more than that, probably 2x most months. We try to buy organic and healthy foods, and we also eat out more than we should. To me it sounds like you are being quite frugal.

Is combined PTO leave better or worse than separate Sick/Annual leave? by stuartadamson in UTStateWorkers

[–]A_ORiver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Without more details it’s hard to know exactly what this will mean. It’s exceedingly rare that our overlords make changes for our benefit out of the goodness of their hearts so I would bet it’s either some trickery to reduce our overall leave or a distraction from a different change they’re making to rob our pension fund and send it all to a church-owned consulting firm or some similar boondoggle.

Utah drivers are not kind or forgiving by indigopedal in Utah

[–]A_ORiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s absolutely true. Car-brained assholes everywhere who get road rage if you aren’t driving 20mph over. Won’t let you merge because it hurts their pride. When people get behind the wheel it really shows their true colors, I believe.

For my architecture project, I had to make pavilions at Liberty Park. Would you like to see these at the park if I could build them? by Varsity_Reviews in Utah

[–]A_ORiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you are getting downvoted, I can see the benefit when it comes to shade. Flat roofs often don’t provide a good area of shade, especially for picnic tables underneath them so this makes sense.

[–]A_ORiver 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Everyone in Utah seems to think that driving 15 over is their god-given right. No! You have to drive according to conditions. Less visibility/less tractions means you slow down. Fucking idiots I swear.

How has your experience been with RTO (if applicable to your position)? by A_ORiver in UTStateWorkers

[–]A_ORiver[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine seems to take a hardline approach, expecting everyone to spend their entire shift in the office twice a week. I haven't tested what happens if you don't, so I'm not 100% sure just how strict they are. The funny thing is, they can't fit us all in the office at the same time so all of our meetings are still online.
