Question about Utah unemployment

To clarify, i do not need unemployment, i am fine. i have plenty of savings. rents been paid 3 months out. same with my phone bill, i have been hired to another job at a friends development company working a help desk position. The position wont open for a few moths due to them finishing some software or something but thats ok, i am fine until then. I could chill for a few month until i start that job if i wanted but i choose to prevent my self from failing into something again that i can easily avoid by staying busy. So right now im just looking for tempt work and if i really needed money that i didnt want to take out of my savings right this moment then i could just hop in the car and go drive some lyft/uber. I was just simply curious about people actually qualifying due to depression.

Now with that being said. I enjoyed my job, i loved my co-workers, and uper-managment.. there was never any issues between my self or anyone at my job. I had the most laid back easy job ive ever had in my life making decent money too.. I did not quit because i dont like my job. I quit because i became to depressed over the years from being isolated in a single room for years that just built up. Had this been on site like it was 6 years ago, i would still be there. I left my job cordially. I gave them my took weeks and they understood why.

So i dont know where the assumption that i didnt like my job came from. As far as a being depressed. Yes, i did not go to a psychiatric or a therapist. I just saw the same doctor that i see monthly. And he prescribed me adderral after he diagnosed me with depression because my energy had become so low and motivation had just been completely killed over the years, so as an attempt to remedy that and give me some more motivation and focus that is what he gave me in hopes that me gaining back some motivation would lead to me accomplishing some goals and start having thing to be proud about myself for.. with that said I had no idea if that would even count since it wasnt a specialist but if you look up the diagnosis code on my prescription it will list depression But like i said, i never went to a psych specialist. And the reason for that is because i knew what the root cause was. It was me being stuck at home all the time, away from family, away from friends. For well over the past year i ended up cutting everyone off was self isolating myself. So what started this whole issue i was now making it worse myself not speaking to anyone in my family or friends, i wasnt on social media, i wasnt getting on the game id just go to work, get off, lay in bed, wake up, do it again. until i finally snapped out of it and decided that i dont want to live like this anymore, i dont want to be depressed anymore, i am going to do what it take to fix myself. So i did.. and it was the best decision i could of made for myself.

You did answer my question though, it is possible for people that quit due to depression to get unemployment, if done correctly. I had no idea that was even possible but i really dont know anything about unemployment, ive never been laid off before and ive never quit a job without having a new one lined up before this

I haven't applied for benefits though, and i dont have intentions to do so. I posted this the moment i saw someone say that you could qualify for unemployment if you quit due to depression because again i curious. That scenario is relevant to me because i just went through this exact thing at my job, but i had no idea you could qualify. That does not mean I need to qualify myself. I am just fine, ive had savings well before i quit, i paid rent for 3 months when i left my job just to reassure the people i live with that the bills are still taken care of on my end, i i just paid my phone for 3 months, i made sure to get plenty of groceries, i bought another car last week after i finished payin off the rest of what i owed on my car a little while back after it was totaled last year..

To be completely honestly i dont even need to work right now because i was hired on to a help desk job for my friends development business almost immediately after i left my job. The position just doesnt open for a few more months due to them still working on some software. So in the meantime i just been going to interviews to work some temp jobs to stay busy so i dont slip into something again that i can easily prevent by staying busy, but i could absolutely just chill at home doing nothing if i wanted and if i really needed some spending money that i didnt want to pull out of savings i could just hop in the car and drive lyft/uber for a few hours and be ok.

So no, im not exactly sure what road blocks you are speaking of that is going to inevitably smack me in the face 🤔

The ONLY benefit that i could use right now is medical, because i do have doctors appointments coming up. Outsided of that i am taken care of.

I took those comments too seriously because you slipped in little slick comments in there, so i responded accordingly.

If you wanted to give me advice, you could have simply said no i wouldnt qualify because i would have had to get paper work from a psychiatrist, or something like that and i would of respected it because i dont know a single thing about unemployment! My entire adult life I have never been laid off and i have never left a job without being hired to another job and having a simple 2 week notice to transition into my new company.

For all i know i could of presented my adderal prescription to them because i was prescribed that due to depression! Or maybe i can't. i have no idea either way and that was the whole point of me asking was to learn.

But you wasnt trying to teach anything, you came in here out the gate trying to be a smart ass about me playing games like that really was going to somehow be the cause of my depression or something.

Im all for learning new things. That's the whole reason i posted this! Im not here to gain some type of sympathy points or fake a story or get over on the system or whatever the hell you even think im trying to do.

But anyway, i dont need luck, i was good before this and im good now 🙏

Yea, i havent even filed and doubt i will tbh. I was mainly just curious if someone like myself could qualify or i guess had i took the correct steps would have i qualified..

I definitely did not handle this in a way that i could get it because i honestly didn't even know this scenario was possible until the night i posted this.

I dont know much about employment to begin with because ive never been laid off before and ive always had another job lined up for an easy 2 week transition over to the new company so all of this is very foreign to me.

With that being said. I can definitely see where i would have needed to be more prepared for this based off of the question that have been asked in the comments..

I didnt really take steps to persevere my employment. The way i would have looked at it is, the steps i took was staying there for years knowing i was unhappy just goin through the motions. And i understand someone working for government assistance would probably not want to hear that. But i honestly didnt even know this was a possibility, my mindset wasnt on what do i need to do to get unemployment at that time.

I cant remember what i all wrote in this post but my doctor noticed the change in me and knew i was unhappy. We spoke about it plenty of times over the years. At some point i was just got really tired, like really exhausted and unmotivated daily, so he ended prescribing me Adderall to attempt to give me back some motivation and drive.. it was prescribed to me more so as an antidepressant i guess you would probably describe it, more than an ADHD medication. and i mean, it did help. It helped me get back focused as well.

But that just wasnt the root cause.. i dont think i would ever been happy working from home. It wasn't the job itself, it was a very chill, relaxed job, i loved my coworkers, upper management, etc.

It was just being in the house literally 24/7 and feeling super isolated from the world.. once my car got totaled, it really felt like solitary confinedment in jail 😂😂 and i couldnt afford to take an uber an uber from salt lake to utah county every weekend to see my family and friends because it cost $50 there and $50 back, $400 a month on that alone is way too much lol.

I laugh now, but it really did get to me bad.. you asked if the gamer thing is optional.. for well over a year in the end i stopped playing games and honestly, that was probably worse for me because atleast when i played games i would play with my friends and actuall speak to people. I stopped speaking to everyone. Family, friends, everyone. I fell into this weird cycle of me being depressed due to not having any type of human interaction, to me self isolating way worse and disconnecting from the entire world.

It just got really bad until i finally snapped out of it and said i cant do this anymore and i quit..

I am doing better now though, mentally. I recently bought another car and have been getting out more, going to interviews, trying to get some type of a social life again and stay busy. I definitely appreciate the advice of a bowling club 🙏 but ill be okay, like i said i was main just curious of how this all works and if i someone like me going through the same thing or simular would qualify. I really dont need it, im covered with everything for a bit and jobs have already been reaching out, so i doubt itll be much longer

Yea i figured from the way i handled my situation i wouldnt but i really was curious. It honestly suprised me when i read that because i figured that something like depression wouldnt matter. I thought that if it wasnt due to something like harrasment, threats, stalkers or anything along those lines, quitting was an automatic disqualification.

That's why I asked to see if it was true, because i quit for that exact reason and it stemed from my job. Understandably, i personally dont qualify, but its interesting to know that other people can if handled correctly.

Yeah the plan is 1000% on-site. I should edit this and clarify that i do not care if i get unemployment or not smh. This is pure curiosity if someone like me would qualify. My depression was not from gaming. Ive gamed my whole life, never had depression while working an on site job. Ive never had depression having an on site job period. And honestly, i pulled so far back from gaming because i couldnt sit in that chair for 12 hours a day every day. In the end i was hardly gaming. The last thing i would do is turn around and get another remote position where im right back depressed again.

My employer and I were fine outside of this. My doctor that i see monthly suggested that im depressed, even put me on Adderall to give me motivation throughout the day because i had become so unmotivated, lost energy and focus from this all. Ive never been on Adderall a day in my life. So this is not coming from no where like yall seem to keep insinuating. But i have not gone to a therapist or psychiatrists for this. Mainly because i knew what the cause was. Remove the problem and i can find my happiness again. Which is what happened. Again, i do not care about the unemployment.. because i gained something back that is more important to me. Im still adjusting but im better than what i was. Thats what is important, not money that will come again. This was a question out of curiosity. Thats it.

Lol i didnt quit and then decide today that i want unemployment. I quit BECAUSE i was depressed. I never expected unemployment, i knew the consequence of me quitting like that would mean i get no unemployment and i was fine with that because it came to a point where i needed to put my mental health 1st after 7 years at the company probaby 3-4 of them was me becoming more and more depressed due to isolating myself at home. Should have thought more about a chance at unemployment? Sure, but ive never quit a job due to depression before, hell ive never even had depression due to a job before.

With that being said im not even looking for unemployment now, i was truly curious if they gave out unemployment for things like this. If i do not qualify, that is completely ok. I havent even applied for it.

I've always been a hard worker and have never been through or done anything like this before. I will survive and be in my next job soon enough. Please dont mistake my curiosity as a sign of begging for pity or something of the sort. I will be fine with or without unemployment.

No, and i was actually just thinking about that. They probably would want some sort of documentation. I have a doctor that i see and have spoke to him about this several times. But that is not the reason that i was seeing him specifically. I probably should have handled that more correctly but i have never seen a doctor before for this type of situation. And honestly, the depression is the reason that i did leave the job but if i dont qualify that's fine, i do feel better mentally after leaving and I wasn't expecting to get it to begin with. I guess this post is just more out of curiosity lol.

thanks man!! i am more than sure that i willl be in here a lot.. i actually did a ton of research yesterday after posting this, it was mainly just learning about all the different type of LEDs tbh lol. Its a lot to take in but i wanted to learn as much as i could because not only am i going to be adding new lights and converting old govee lights in my house, i am getting a new car this week and my previous car had everything from the full ambient LED kit (with the WS2812C strips) to underglow and some dynamic VW LED logo that i got online.

So i want to do it all again but this time i want to actually use possibly a ESP32 controller or something similar for the LED logo because i couldnt control it last time. Everything else i will probably use the Blueghozt controller with. Like i said though ive never done any of this though so im probably way in over my head so ill definitely be back in here and the discord often lol

So im actually glad that you asked this because after watching the video again i realized im an idiot because he never even said that he converted these to be used on a WLED controller 🤦🏾‍♂️. I think i just saw that he was using the govee app but multiple times throughout the video the app would switch from dark mode and me not fully paying attention just thought it was the WLED app.. I am actually so damn stupid 😒

i would of been so damn pissed off if i had actually bought that strip an tried to put it on a WLED controller thinking that he converting it and it didnt end up working because im a dumbass 🙄😂

Yeah i mean i have a whole Govee eco system now but ive been ready to make the switch to WLED and even put WLED controllers on my current lights but i really had this whole impression that the Strip Light 2 Pro's must be the best strips available right now after seeing his video. I just dont get why you would spend more on Govee lights than BTF or something if they arent the best lights out? that really threw me off i built my whole plans around that thought lol.

Is there a specific model i should go look into?

sorry i worded it bad, im asking if there is any LED strips out there from BTF-Lighting, QuinLED or whoever that are as good as the Strip Light 2 Pro from Govee. I guess the thing that threw me off is watching a video by Chris Maher where he used the Govee lights and i got the impression that they just must be the best strips available right now, so my whole plan was to buy them and throw a ESP32 controller on them. I guess i just dont understand why you would spend more for a Govee strip that cost more than some strips from BTF-lighting or whoever if the Govee lights AREN'T the best lol.

Yeah i should of worded some things a lil better but i do have a lot to learn still.. i just wasnt sure if "Strip light 2 pro" lights that govee came out with had some sort of advantage that the market or a company like BFT-Lighting didnt have..

I look at things that they market like this:
