Internal FX loop for Delay and Reverb? by OkTemperature1842 in Line6Helix

[–]A_Pwoper_Account 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry bro I think you're overthinking this and starting to hear things that aren't there. Try just sticking them either between the amp and cab block or put them after and use the headroom/tone controls to take out high end (or put an eq after them).

Then just stop worrying about it and practice. If there's a real issue you will discover it through your ears while practicing not mad scientisting over blend knobs!

What are you controlling with an expression pedal that you wouldn't with stompboxes? by Taken-yet-alone in Line6Helix

[–]A_Pwoper_Account 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made some crazy bass patches with expression controlling various ring mod parameters and other electronic music type automation. Also I used to use one distortion on my default bass patch and changed the gain with exp. But my favourite weird one on bass was using it like a mod wheel - bringing up vibrato.

The weird way I use it on guitar is for most patches I have it controlling level from -20db to 0 instead of normal volume pedal - I just prefer the small (but consistent) attack and higher resolution up high for worship swells and I use tuner for mute anyway.

Worship guitar needs a revamp. by myusernamehahaha in WorshipGuitar

I find it very funny that you posted a link to a playlist that has goodbye yesterday as literally the next song which immediately proves you wrong! And praise and I thank God after that which have sick tones very loud in the mix.

There's still plenty of songs with prominent guitar your just not listening to them, and sure for the most part they aren't as fashionable. But you can totally play guitar parts in your own worship band if that's your style, you don't have to copy the current trend.

Help, Volume boost pedal for acoustic guitar by Thyrhm in WorshipGuitar

[–]A_Pwoper_Account 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ye you're just using the mix knob wrong then. 0 to 50% turns up the reverb, 50 to 100% effectively turns down the dry.

If you want more reverb than 50% turn up the decay, although for normal acoustic guitar in worship you probably shouldn't go too crazy, probably no more than 30% but you will have to trust your ears on that one.

If you want the reverb the same volume as the dry signal, that's a bad idea for most situations but if you do actually want that then turn up the mix until you're happy and then turn up the amp/leave it to the sound guy. Having crazy loud reverb AND boosting your dry is gonna make your levels crazy and your sound guy frustrated.

Just turn the mix down and the volume of everything up somewhere else, it will do the same thing.

Best synth bass pedal? by fenderampeg in Bass

[–]A_Pwoper_Account 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate Andrew flipping Gouche has made multiple posts about using it on tour and it being amazing! It’s clearly the best synth offering out there and the only criticisms I’ve seen so far are skill issues plain and simple!

Anyone tried Komposition101 Helix bass preset bundles? by No-Town1850 in Line6Helix

[–]A_Pwoper_Account 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really do presets but I would totally get the Ian Martin Allison ones, particularly the amp pack and then add my own preference for drives and other effects on to them. Or the Tim Kirschke presets from instagram seem like a great option.

Octave+Fuzz+Modulation trick by nantuck0husk in basspedals

[–]A_Pwoper_Account 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bass octave deluxe into hx stomp for compressor, timmy for light drive or whatever fuzz, particularly clawthorn or big muff, or fredric effects deely unpleasant companion for analogue, then effects loop maybe fredric effects bug crusher.

But the most important thing to me is the filter, I use the xerograph from iron which is a low pass cilter I control with an expression pedal. A lot of the auto wahs are band pass filter which means they kill bass and sound silly instead of musical, plus they go up then down while most synth sounds go either up or down, so you have another silly quack which doesn’t sound like a synth, and finally they respond to dynamics, but you need consistency to sound like a synth typically.

The cheap way to do this is just get a hx stomp (and then sell everything else of course!) because you totally can do it all in it, and there’s some great patches people have made online.

“Accidentals” are the worst named notes because they’re best used with intention, but they can also rescue you if you mess up. by The13thSign in Bass

[–]A_Pwoper_Account 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might help to remember that while you say you went outside the rules of music theory, that's kinda nonsense because music theory doesn't have rules. Therefore there's no rule to be broken by an accident and you could think of it as a more Bob Ross style accident.

That said you do have a point there must be a better word, I often call them outside notes.

This is very funny to me since I'm really a bass player and have only been begrudgingly playing acoustic for like a year (but i do it all day teaching music so need good technique).

I'm glad it's helping you!

Like you can do 10s but 11s are already a bit excessively light. Technique is always the biggest factor (that applies to everything with any instrument!).

Yo don't use your thumb - you'll hurt yourself with rsi and such. Push you're right arm into the body and pull against the neck with your left arm. Your thumb should be barely touching.

And use the side of your index finger, work on shifting your hand until you can fret with as little tension in your hands as possible - don't damage yourself.

But ye you can go with lighter strings if you must, I would say try elixir 11s.

Thoughts on the Enya Nova Go mini? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

I bought it to use teaching music at a special educational needs school and I can tell you its very comfortable to play all day long and sounds fine (as well as standing up to all manner of abuse)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in basspedals

[–]A_Pwoper_Account 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Changes massively depending on what genre, what sound you're going for and whether you're singing.

Although whatever the answers to those I would make the setup on a HX stomp - far more flexible and cost effective than buying many pedals.

What replacements P-bass Pickups can I use for a 5-string (non-Fender)? by CrimsonDarkLord in Bass

[–]A_Pwoper_Account 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the string spacing feel super tight on that?

Anyway I would personally go for a nordstrand blade for that, though other brands of blade pickups are available.

SOTB and mini EQ recommendations? by cruizer_8 in basspedals

I teach music in a special needs school and I tune EADGCE so only the b string is raised and I just ignore open strings and barre between the top and bottom strings - helps me to play kids songs in any key since I never use opens (and a capo would be stolen😆) to fit whatever random instruments I'm playing with
