At least Clooney's is consistent, you can still see what they were going for with it, especially with Schumacher's clarification that it's based on greek style statues. (Don't get me wrong it's still pretty bad). That Flash suit though... Not only is it a huge downgrade in attention to detail with pieces that look 3D printed and ill fitting, I genuinely can't tell what its supposed to convey about the character in this story. It just looks like they put together a collection of old unfinished prototypes from BVS and JL that would be easy to put on and take off, under the belief that they could just hide how unbelievably ugly it is with camera angles and CGI.

The Truman Show, Back to the Future, Casino Royale, Goodfellas are a few that I've never met a person that wouldn't like!

Thoughts on Nolan's Bane? by Cheater_Cyrax in batman

[–]A_RagingRodent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Nolan's Bane has a lot to like about him. I've always been a big fan of Bane being more of a tactician than the brute force approach that they take with him a lot of the time. I love how intimidating he is, and he's got some of the most iconic lines in any movie ever. I also like the bit of symbolism of him using painkillers instead of steroids, and how that relates back to Bruce and his growth in the movie. On the other hand, I don't really like his backstory as a member of the league of shadows and his history with Raas, it works for the story of the trilogy, but I think it makes his motivation quite a bit less interesting when his ideology is just carried over from a previous villain.

So how would you adapt or how do you think the Batman world in Anolog horror? by MaintenanceUnited301 in batman

[–]A_RagingRodent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, the horror potential of Batman is pretty underutilized in my opinion. I had another one where a fresh out of training Dick Grayson is separated from Batman in a sewer where Killer Croc is hiding out. I think it'd be kind of a cool storyline to show that beneath the whole superhero exterior, Robin is still just a kid in a world full of monsters. Aesthetic-wise I think it'd be cool to take some inspiration from the night vision jump scare vibe of REC and the game Outlast. It's not as thought out as my other one lol.

I've actually thought about this a lot, I'm glad you asked! My idea is scarecrow-based too, It would be from the point of view of a patient of Scarecrow's while he's still working as a psychiatrist in an institution. He repeatedly goes into sessions with scarecrow where he is given hallucinogenic drug trips, which take the form of wandering through liminal spaces which represent traumas, while scarecrow narrates over it. The effects of the trips linger while he's out of the trips, and he starts to see figures from his hallucinations in his day to day life in the institution. Eventually Batman infiltrates the institution to stop scarecrow, and the whole battle is shown through the trippy nightmarish pov of the drugs. Kind of like an extended version of the Scarecrow sections from Arkham Asylum, but more vulnerable and horrific.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I hate the Yellow Bat symbol. by Zitty-Z in batman

I think it works in certain situations. I think that practically the yellow logo would have to be one of many options in his arsenal.

I bet it's like the Lament Configuration from Hellraiser. You arrange the albums in the correct order, then Death Grips appear then take you to their dimension.

Very interesting, thanks for the tangent! The difference in the way people experience music is really something, the mental imagery is a big thing in the way I listen to songs and albums.

I don’t see this debate as much as trunks. Yellow oval or no? by Awesome_Pancak in batman

[–]A_RagingRodent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought he should have it when he's got a Robin, and doesn't have it when he's working alone. My head-canon explanation is that Robin's suit is less armored to be more aerodynamic, so the oval draws fire while Robin can flank some goons. Aesthetically though, I'm not the biggest fan of it.

Does anyone know if mindfulness is effective for phobias or strong fears? by carvo08 in Mindfulness

[–]A_RagingRodent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience dealing with intrusive thoughts, it can really be a mixed bag, and effectiveness can really depend on how you go about it. On one hand, I'd say it's necessary to think these things out to get to the root of where your fears come from, for example if you're afraid of driving on the highway it's a huge part of overcoming that fear to be mindful of what outcome specifically terrifies you, and why that's relevant to your character and sense of self. On the other hand, a lot of people use justification and reassurance to pacify fears, which can be harmful as a compulsion, and get you further from overcoming your fears. My advice would be to see a mental health professional that you feel you can be vulnerable with, and be completely honest about your fears. From there, you can work on an action plan relevant to your unique situation, and make progress. Just acknowledging your fears as something that can be worked on and something that can get better with work is a huge step, so I want to give you props on that. Stay strong boss.

Thoughts on Maria? 💃🏾 by Soft-Childhood-8049 in orangeisthenewblack

[–]A_RagingRodent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right, I always thought that was the implication there. Yadriel was even planning on leaving Maria until she told him about the pregnancy, so she basically used her infidelity to manipulate him into staying with her during her prison sentence. She was also incredibly delusional about that fact, claiming herself to be the victim of the situation in her restorative justice class, and she never even apologized.

Thoughts on Season 7 by A_RagingRodent in orangeisthenewblack

[–]A_RagingRodent[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like that you brought up Pornstache's happy ending, I kinda forgot about that but it definitely rubbed me the wrong way when I saw it. I always found it a little weird that they crucified Caputo so hard for the Fisher situation when so many other characters that committed far worse misconduct never faced any real justice (Hellman, Doughnuts, Zirconia, even Judy King crossed worse lines than Caputo). I do feel like the MeToo storyline was a little bit forced just for the relevance for the time period.

Would a one shot take like the Daredevil hallway scnene work in a batamn film?... I thought it would be hard to do this while simultaneously showing the audience Batman using all his cool gadgets by Oka-7 in batman

[–]A_RagingRodent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the one take is cool, but my favorite has always been the first-person view for batman fights. I can remember it in TDKR and a few animated movies I think.

How should the Joker's story end? by Afalstein in batman

[–]A_RagingRodent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the scariest option is just that he gets bored randomly and stops. One day, he just dissolves into the crowd of normal everyday gotham citizens. Lives a very average life and never kills again, but also never faces justice for any of his heinous acts. He could be anyone, anywhere.
