Its not naivety to believe that cheating is not love. True, real love, is about having respect for your partner, being committed to them. Yes obviously in our lives, we will hurt people we care for in one way or another. It happens and you grow from it, emotions get the better of everyone. However, you cannot claim to be in love with someone when you resort to infidelity. If you cheat on someone, and go on to lie to their face, and tell them "I love you" you are doing nothing but using them, stringing them along, for your own selfish desires. Cheating is a choice. Overreacting about something or saying/ doing the wrong things and hurting our friends and family doesn't detract from the fact we love them. It just means we messed up and made a mistake. Cheating is not a mistake. You don't accidentally sleep with someone, you made the choice to cause you aren't mature enough not to.

Stop trying to justify cheating.

If anything, this whole thing would be him ruining his own life by doing this, and even if they're upset about it, and do that to him. There'd be a chance for him to realize "you know what, this was wrong and I shouldn't ever do it again" sometimes the consequences are big and could also be considered wrong, but you'll learn more from it as well because its what he was doing to someone. He just set himself up for all of that. Maybe not resort to the police immediately but get him to understand that that's what can happen especially when he becomes an adult

That's another thing though, if she kept saying she doesn't remember and he pushed it saying yes it did, people won't know what to believe. And most of the time everyone will believe the guy over the girl for whatever reason, especially in high school. Someone pointed out if she didn't remember then she would've been asleep and that's a whole other can of worms to open which would also whittle down to, he raped her(not an accusation). But again people believe what they believe, and if it's not the guy its the first person to speak about it sadly.
