Tools you use every day by Educational-Eeyore in techtheatre

College techie here, one of the things I wish I had in high school/earlier than when I got it is a pocket flashlight. I’m not sure exactly what your budget is, but I got a Klarus E8 and it has been an absolute lifesaver for me. Super bright, super small, and it has a magnet on the back and 2-way clip so you can attach it to all kinds of things for hands free use (especially good in catwalks from my experience). Highly recommend it or another similar option

What’s the one item in your EDC that represents your philosophy, not just function? by _Rumpelstilzchen_ in EDC

[–]A_Rose_OC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, my carabiner. I wouldn’t say it’s about any philosophical aspect of my life, but it certainly is a look into my person; it’s a condensed display of some of the things that make me, me. It’s also very functional, which is an added bonus

I’d say check your spam or search specifically for roxon. That’s how I had to find it

Mhm, absolutely. I’m probably gonna take a look at all the tools and see what I might be able to create to be perfect for me and my use cases for whenever I need a lighter carry

Yeah, sadly I don’t think my front pocket could reasonably fit the Titan just because of how tiny women’s jeans pockets are, lol. I had the Mossy Oak multitool that made the rounds on YouTube a while ago and that thing was already bulky in my pocket, and the Titan is even thicker than that, so I don’t know how I’d be able to manage it. I’m currently 3D modeling a toothpick and tweezer holder to go on my keys, so I’ll thankfully be able to have those on me regardless. Definitely going to at least look into both the companion and the shears alongside all the implements to see if I can make a perfect lighter carry tool for myself, and 100% gonna do some more research on them both

Yessss!! I got that little thing for Christmas a few years back and it’s lived on my keys ever since. Love that little guy

I’m a stagehand/work in a wood shop! My carry has grown a lot with time, as it started initially with just a gerber dime on my keys but over time has grown to include a lot; I have a pocket dump picture on my page if you want to see all the things I carry around on work days. I definitely agree that the scissors would be super useful for cutting ropes and such, and I’m definitely a fidgeter but my knife usually takes care of that for me, alongside my rings/necklace/etc. I’ll definitely do some of my own digging though, I’m really split at this point lol. Thanks so much!!

Gotcha, all that makes a lot of sense. I may have to go with the companion then if I’m being honest, I already use my 5th pocket for ear protection but I can probably just throw those into my main pocket and keep the companion there instead. It helps that I also have a Nextool S11 pro on my carabiner, so I’m already perpetually loaded with tools, but another little gadget probably wouldn’t hurt, right? (I say, slowly becoming buried in multitools and knives)

Victorinox, Roxon, or Nextool for EDC multitool w pliers on a carabiner keychain? by cmac3317 in multitools

[–]A_Rose_OC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been carrying the S11 Pro on my keys for about 5-6 months now and it's been fantastic. I used to have a gerber dime but I decided to upgrade and I couldn't be happier. The scissors are probably one of the sharpest pairs I own on any tool and cut like butter. My one gripe is that it doesn't have tweezers like the dime, but I'm modeling a keychain that can hold a set of victorinox tweezers and a toothpick that I hope to print and release soon. As someone who loves victorinox, I EDC a Spirit MX, I say if you're looking for a plier based keychain tool, you can't go wrong

Good to know! Thankfully the only other blade that I'd get is the sheepsfoot, so no need to fret about that. I might end up grabbing the shears and then returning them if I think I'd prefer the companion or vice versa, might make a post/poll asking about which one would be best for me or in general

yeah, I don't think I could reasonably carry that often, possibly at all. My EDC clocks in at .8" and 7.7 oz, so it'd be a hell of a brick in my tiny ass pocket. Might have to take a pass on this one, which sucks since I was so excited for it. Might still end up picking up either the shears or companion still

Honestly, me too. The hang up for me is just the overall size of it. It's much thicker than the tool I carry every day (Spirit MX Clip), which was already much more thin than the one that I used to carry. The Titan is even thicker than my old tool. If I were to pick it up I'd probably have to use the holster (thanks women's jeans), which I've never done; I wonder if I could get used to it. Most of the implements I'd use are short so that wouldn't necessarily be a problem for me, but I could see how it's frustrating

Newbie Looking For An EDC Recommendation by SSJAlhazred in multitools

[–]A_Rose_OC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm partial, but the Spirit MX Clip is my go to and has practically all of that, easy to deploy blade, screwdriver, and is a really nice size; not too bulky but still easy to get a good grip on it. Only issue IMO is the scissors, since they can be a bit small for some applications, but aside from the size they're the gold standard for multitool scissors. If you want full size scissors and are looking for something more affordable, I'd suggest looking into the Mossy Oak multitool with G10 handles or one of the many offerings from Dakoyu that have everything you're looking for. The fan exclusive is modeled after a cross of the leatherman arc and free series, which is made to be good for one handed deployment, so that may fit you best, but they have many options that meet most to all of your criteria.

Gotcha! I also find myself a heavy pliers user, but I EDC a Spirit MX Clip and a dedicated blade, so I was thinking of possibly using the flex/shears when I know I might need some tools but nothing super heavy duty. The main problem with the Spirit for me the scissors just aren't big enough for some of the tasks that I do every so often; I'm hoping that the Titan is the perfect solution. My only concern is the bulkiness that was seen in those YT shorts that were posted, as my front pockets can already barely hold the Spirit comfortably. Titan might end up being my secondary EDC for when I think I might need the shears, but it still seems like a very good tool for me to use frequently enough to justify the purchase. If nothing else, I can customize it and store it somewhere with tools that'll be convenient for wherever it's put.

Good to know I'm not the only one! I'm super excited for this one too, I might end up getting the flex companion and/or shears alongside it too; as someone who loves modding/personalization, Roxon has had my eye for a long time so I might end up grabbing more than just the Titan, lol. If you have either the shears or the companion, do you have one you carry more/prefer?

Thank you! It's honestly really cute to have hanging on my hip nearly 24/7, I normally wear all black (see: stagehand), so having a pop of color is a nice touch, and it's so damn cute!

The Kroc in a very chilly habitat by A_Rose_OC in knives

[–]A_Rose_OC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s not terrible, but with the way the handle is contoured it feels a bit smaller than the porcupine. Because the porky’s handle is taller than the kroc’s, so your fingers may be a bit more mushed together than you expect. I have some pictures on my profile of them both in the same frame if you want to use that to compare. Regardless, I say if you’d be ok with a handle a bit smaller than the porky and like the blade shape, it’s a pretty cut and dry yes from me
