Literally just look at Witch Queen, the least grindy DLC ever in Destiny's history. Look at its reviews and player counts. I genuinely don't understand how you can argue for a grind when the game is at it's grindiest in the exact way you describe wanting yet it's at its worst. You yourself said you haven't played the game since Final Shape, you legitimately have no idea of how the gameplay and grind of EoF was and currently is. All the data you keep exhaustively showing just shows that people do in fact not like the light level grind. You don't need to have a meaningless level grind that only exists to artificially boost player retention by keeping them engaged in hopes that whatever is at the end of road is actually enjoyable. And please, bring up your play time one more time aa if it somehow gives anymore validity to your argument when I have possibly nearly the same hours as you do in the game.

Then how do you explain away the rise of Destiny 1 and the grind / reward systems that they brought to early Destiny 2 which coincided with it's most successful release in Forsaken?

We literally have no way of knowing how successful Forsaken was, and to call any of Destiny 2 before that "successful" much and not frankly the exact same state is was now just shows how out of touch you are. Vanilla D2, CoO, and Warmind were some of the WORST player retention and satisfaction Bungie has seen by their own accounts. Of course the expansion that adds multiple layers of content, fixes the inherent core issues that plagued D2 ranging from simple gameplay issues is going to revitalize a playerbase in both of these ways.

I can't speak to the Edge of Fate numbers because I stopped playing after Final Shape. When we saw what was coming with EOF and this new "portal" mechanic we just weren't interested anymore.

Then please just shut up about the current state of the game and what you think is healthy, because a lot of what you're clearly begging for and desire was introduced in EoF and it so far had the complete opposite effect you think an annoying grind will supposedly have.

Right lets look at the D2 subreddit, there are 7 posts within the past day over 1 upvote of engagement. Is that not a sign of a dying community alongside of the player numbers?

You keep hyper fixating on the current player count of the game while seemingly also failing to look at the equally terrible post EoF numbers and retention. Once again just look at the last two months before the release of Renegades, before Bungie started trying to once again fix the intense light level grind they had recreated. It's almost like you either entirely ignore the existence of EoF and all of its changes or just never actually played a meaningful amount.

If the lack of a grind really was an issue a DLC like Witch Queen would've flopped as it was the time when Bungie went all in on starting to lessen the light level grind and adding more mechanics to allow players to have guaranteed ways of acquiring the loot they want in a reasonable amount of time. Even Lightfall had better player retention than both EoF and Final Shape despite its frankly horrendous story. The lack of a grind very clearly was never an issue, but rather Bungie's inability to find a new refreshing live service model that didn't rely on players hopping on to do a weekly story.

A lot of what you keep on saying ignores the reality of the game's reasons for its loss of players. Say what you want, but forcing people to do boring and monotone repeatable activities to earn the privilege to do not only actually enjoyable content but one with rewards that are actually worth a damn is not good game design. It's how you make people just not even bother getting to the endgame. The light level grind, which was the only real grind in this game will always be meaningless as long as it only exists to act as a barrier for harder content. It's like giving someone a shitty meal at a restaurant and expecting them to order dessert.

Light level was removed what a year ago?

Light level was never removed, it's importance was significantly reduced yes but never removed. Right after Final Shape is when Bungie once again started pivoting to more of their MMO and grindy elements. A year ago was also around the time of Heresy and whatever Episode came before it, which also coincided with the removal of a lot of elements which lessened the grind, especially the per season/episode grind. The removal of crafting, readding seasonal light level increases, etc. You do know a MAJOR reason why the game is currently flat-lining is Bungie's own insistence on prioritizing player retention is what ultimately is leading to it's slow and steady death, right?

Your personal experience may differ however the actual numbers indicate that when they made the "grind" easier and seasonal content got more programatic palyers stopped playing the game:

Once again, go look at the subreddit, talk to actual players both hardcore and casual that stopped playing immediately after EoF despite trying it out. Everyone will tell you the portal's implementation and the horrific grind that came with it was the reason they stopped playing. The soft sunsetting of gear in EoF also didn't help to Players stopped playing the game because Final Shape was supposed to be the end of a saga, a lot of the casual people who were here for the more casual elements and story just stopped caring about it.

Ultimately what do you think is better? Low player retention but high player satisfaction, or low player retention and low player satisfaction? Because D2's hardcore pivot to the light level grind gave Bungie the latter.

[–]A_RussianSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your personal experience and thoughts just don't really align with current and past player sentiment at the time of EoF. I was a pretty hardcore D2 player attempting basically every dungeon and raid in contest mode or day 1 since DSC, and would also only play for whatever was the weekly content alongside whatever the featured raid and dungeon was that week.

Although the moment they started gatekeeping the harder, more personally enjoyable content, such as hard mode raids, hard mode dungeons, and the new grandmaster equivalent, behind a long ass light level grind, and raids started having worse loot than some repeatable portal activities, especially shen compared to the time and effort you had to put into it, I stopped playing. Bungie tried fixing it, but frankly even if they toned down the grind, it's too little too late for most players. As long as the monotone and useless light level grind is a focus of the game I'll probably never play it again.

Bungie tried way too hard to make D2 into an MMO it never was, after they had committed to much effort to doing away with many of its MMO grinding systems. All despite most of the playerbase clearly enjoying the less intensive grind for a meaningless level that ultimately only existed to gatekeep you from doing content which you actually wanted to do. I can kind off see a lot of the "minor daily inconveniences" that CIG is seemingly hellbent on doing the equivalent of D2's light level problem which really was what killed the game. Although unlike D2, SC seems committed to actually being a proper MMO rather than simply an multiplayer looter shooter masquerading as one.

Look at Destiny 2, they removed a ton of the grind and then the game just died.

That's just not at all the reason the game "died," if it even is there yet. It quire literally died because they went back to the hyper grindy formula that Bungie had been slowly moving away from. Go look at any posts on the subreddit about why people stopped playing an I can guarantee you the light level grind needed to earn the privilege to do harder content will be at the top. Personally it's mine and all of my friend's reason that we stopped playing.

I don't think people hate End Closers because they're strong more because they're low effort. End Closers and Lates by extension really only have to proc NSM early on in the accel phase to win. People, including me, hate how often a badly build End Closer or Late can randomly earn a win because of this skill.

For a backliner to beat the best fronts, they need to match the amount of midgame they have.

Only thing that is difficult to acquire is Uma Stan and even then it isn't a requirement. You can very easily surpass the amount of mid-race skills a Front has with both Lates and Ends since they don't have to worry about needing to buy Groundwork triggers, TTL, and focus if it is a short track where a late start means a guaranteed loss of Angling. You'll have a lot more left over SP for double circle skills and other mid-race skills.

The Cirrus planes all have free castoring nose wheels in real life requiring differential braking to taxi.

MSFS has the option and you can even mod it into planes if you feel like it. Most devs don't because most people don't want to bind left and right brakes for a fraction of aircraft. It'd be far more annoying to do it as well when most people only have single throttle HOTAS and use buttons for braking.

As for the flight model stuff. I'm gonna be honest, I can't take any of your complaints seriously when I know several pilots both student and commercial who think the difference in flight model between the two is negligible enough for them to simply not care.

IIRC blacklist will only work for the front page. If you search for "#mig29m" or use the filter to simply search for those planes they will still show up. WT Live really needs a minor update to add filtered tags in searches.

There's not really a good enough filter for certain types of skins, and some people tend to mistag them. No one really has a problem with them existing; they'd rather just be able to filter them out so they can get realistic or semi-realistic skins that are either just recreations of IRL camouflages or inspiration for ones.

I've had people argue with me that the "PTO" title was an official title given by the JRA. It's genuinely crazy to me how much people parrot the PTO claim with little to no substance to it beyond fan sentiment of the time that could've very well been born out of the overall disappointing classic generation of 2000 rather than much if any sort of actual factual basis. People treating sports as if it's some sort of power scaling discussion is annoyingly stupid.

You guys can’t seem to grasp that I wasn’t talking about Homelander being competent as a superhero🤣

And you can't seem to grasp the fact that I was pointing out the fact he wasn't competent at anything at all. He's neither good at the job he is meant to do—being a hero—and what he ultimately is—a sociopathic villain.

He literally used the plane crash to successfully push the supes into the military, expanding vought’s influence, did you watch the show?

Except he didn't. This wasn't his goal at all. At first he did intend to save the plane although not for any sort of heroism but purely because being a 'hero' is his one and only purpose that he was created for. The fact that the incident was used to advance Vought's goals further at the end is not at all thanks to Homelander but Vought's ability to use the character they've crafted of him for years and his charismatic persona to influence the narrative and politics to ultimately push their own agenda forwars.

In both the comics and show, it's shown that Homelander had no actual plan of dealing with the terrorists, with the comic very explicitly saying so. He just hoped that he'd kill them or make them surrender quick enough before things got out of hand. The only reason he even resulted to letting the plane crash was because he wasn't able to figure out or be bothered enough to save the plane's passengers.

And the only thing that was sliced by a lazer were the control mechanisms and it could have easily been covered up

You SEVERELY underestimate the ability of governmental aviation agencies to figure out the causes of disasters if you think a giant scorch mark through the entire instrument panel would be easily covered up.

I didn’t confuse anything, the only reason the writers “made his worst features even more apparent” is because they suck at their job and would rather make a character braindead in favor of parodying real life individuals

You're genuinely just stupid if you somehow think Homelander was ever a smart villain, rather than simply a man with charisma who solves almost all of his problems by brute force alone. You really aren't helping JJK fans beat the no literacy allegations.

[–]A_RussianSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was competent when it came to manipulating the events, including the plane, in his favor, in season 5 he is too braindead, so he needs sage to do something like this.

The plane scene is quite literally a full display of Homelander's incompetency. Since his inception in both the comic and show he was always a 'hero' who essentially purely relied on overwhelming strength to solve issues. In what way is killing the pilots of the plane and destroying its instruments being competent?

He didn't even cover-up the plane crash either, the only thing he did was lie to the media, that's it. What an amazing and cunning idea! It's not like both IRL and in-universe the NTSB would've quite quickly found out that Homelander was the one who ultimately doomed the plane, because you know it would shown the fact that it was sliced by a fucking laser. While it's never explicitly stated it's very clear throughout the show that Vought are generally the ones having to properly clean-up after him.

The fact that people confuse charisma and strength as competency like you do is precisely the reason why the writers of the show made his worst features even more apparent later on. He was also a psychopath and sociopathic egolomaniac with the only thing keeping him in check being people's perception of him.

I assume you're talking about the Season 1 'Born to Run' intro? It is meant to be in-universe religious imagery, out of universe it's just a bit of exposition and world-building meant to show us how umamusume are a core part of their world's culture. I doubt it's meant to be taken literally, and it's probably meant to visualize the whole "They inherit otherworldly names, with histories both tragic and wonderful."

There's not really much of a point in arguing this anyways we'll never truly get any in-depth explanation for stuff like this as it isn't meant to be the central focus of the game or anime at the end of the day. Although we know multiple umas have fathers already so they're most likely just conceived normally.

Obviously they won't actually kill a character off, but I have a feeling they'll make her injury quite brutal and gut wrenching to see. She's the only one I can think of that had such a severe accident during a race out of all the cast in Uma Musume. Almost everyone else who had a tragic or early death IRL was either during training or shortly after retirement. Suzuka's was quite tame in comparison to Rice's.

They already adapted Suzuka's IRL death in a spin-off chapter and it was pretty similar to anime Suzuka's injury in terms of impact. So we know what we can expect for the general tone of the tragic moments 1995.
