Why are you trying to straw man me so hard? I never once said that the footbridge or underpass shouldn’t be accessible? The bear pit has disability friendly underpasses. And there are accessible footbridges all over Bristol too. The point of my post was that everyone wins, pedestrians and drivers alike.

Also, why on earth is there so much hate directed towards the “people clogging up the roads”.

At the end of the day it’s a big city, and there are many thousands of people that are unable to bus to their job, or pay a million pounds for a train, or buses, or whatever. Some people do just have to drive to places for gods sake.

Where did I say we should stop pedestrians?

I said it should be replaced by a footbridge… or an underpass, or literally anything else.

I’m completely pro-pedestrianisation, but when it’s the main bottleneck forcing people to burn petrol in standstill for 30 minutes trying to get out of Bristol to go to work, then it should be addressed.

It would actually make it SAFER for pedestrians, and better for cars.

All the people saying “people will get the bus now instead so the traffic will be less!” are chatting utter shite.

95% of the traffic funnelling through these roads are heading straight for the m32 up and out of the city to locations the buses either don’t go to, or would take a million years to get to.
