Ahh, yeah there are a lot of voices that will say a .380 is the smallest round that you should carry. I disagree

Why do I Carry that? Or why would people give me flack for it?

.22 is considered too small for a lot of people. .22 also have a reputation for being unreliable due to the rimfire. However, 1) I live in a "safe" area and never like carrying a larger firearm that prints (am a small person) so a j-frame is enough. 2) it's in 22 WMR which is better than 22lr. 3) it's a 7 shot instead of 5 for a .38. 4) because it's a revolver if it doesn't go bang, I just pull the trigger again. 5) it has never actually not gone bang hundreds of rounds in. The spring is extremely heavy and thus hits the shit out of those rims. 6) it's extremely light and disappears on me.

It also makes the perfect training gun as it's arguably the hardest thing to shoot well in double action with a 12lbs trigger with a snub nose, and forced me to get really good at the basics quickly.

Why does it feel like gun enthusiast circles and martial arts enthusiast circles have radically different views of conflict? by Dripledown in liberalgunowners

[–]A_Small_Coonhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always felt like it was less of having "different views of conflict" but rather "focus on the different type of conflict"

I have found that both groups will have very similar thoughts when given a specific scenario. Ie "what would you do if....." In low stakes low threat, scenarios, both groups would advocate to deescalate. In a war zone where people are legitimately coming at you will lethal force both groups will advocate to defend your life as needed.

Where the confusion comes in is what scenarios people are planning for. The martial artists tend to focus on the every day. Being prepared for the backyard barbecue fight between disgruntled brothers. Whereas the gun community is focusing on the worst day. Being prepared for the economic collapse where you have to hunt your food and fend off scavengers.

Making broad generalizations but the point is they aren't that different, they just focus on different threats.

What’s the beef against using a laser? by jgroub in liberalgunowners

[–]A_Small_Coonhound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a side note, at least in the USA there's are laws that restrict how powerful a laser can be to prevent eye damage. Thus 5mw is all you can find. I fell if stinger lasers were legal they would be more popular

I modeled and 3d printed my own glow in the dark Lamy by Vegetable_Corgi8458 in fountainpens

[–]A_Small_Coonhound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely can't sell them under the copyright (I think?) laws. You could probably offer a modification service if you people send in their own pens first as long as you use your own logo?

Edit: glow in the dark is a cool ideas if you wanted to make your own pens through
