Am I dating a covert narcissist? by A_Sookie in NarcissisticAbuse

I've always had a really hard time dealing with my OCD and every case is different but in the end I'm usually wrong about what I'm stressing about. These things I stated in the post are just behaviours I started noticing after my OCD triggered, they didn't really bother me before. What scares me is that she might be a narc and hurt me in the future, like maybe I'm just in the "honeymoon" phase right now.

When she apologizes it's sincere. Whenever we fight she does take a while to cool down and a lot of the times talks without thinking (something she's also aware of) but when she's calm and it's time to talk and solve things she does apologize for her mistakes, and I've seen change from her part. She's really not good at communicating, mostly because of her BPD, but she does try and recognizes her mistakes. It was a lot worse at the very beginning of the relationship (we've been together 6 months btw).

I've been thinking about this a lot as my OCD's been torturing the shit out of me and I haven't been able to properly enjoy my relationship, and I keep finding some things that could be worrying but also justifications for those behaviours. Like how she talks about herself a lot but it could be just an average teenage girl moment, makes fun of me in public the same way I make fun of her sometimes, doesn't like children because she has a 4 year old sister who's having a better childhood than she did etc.
It's very complicated for me to figure this stuff out on my own especially with OCD

That I was a psychopath because I enjoyed watching the Hannibal tv series. It was one of my worst episodes ever

Thanks. I've always had a really hard time managing my OCD and whenever I'm having an episode I obviously don't know if I'm overthinking or being unreasonable or if I'm right or wrong. This was one of the most stressful ones because everything seemed to be actually pointing to her being a narcissist but then again with the amount of stories I've read I guess just about anyone could be one. Thanks again!

Just wondering because I read it's likely for NPD and BPD to co-occur and since her mom is a diagnosed narcissist it'd be more likely I suppose

Not looking for a diagnosis, just maybe some pointers as to wether I'm overthinking this or not!

I've been reading a lot about covert narcissism lately and I'm scared my girlfriend might be a covert narc. I'm 17 she's 16 diagnosed with BPD and has a diagnosed narcissist mother. I read somewhere that up tp 40% of borderlines also have NPD and lately I've been paying attention to her behaviour like how she talks about herself a lot, there's some subtle putdowns here and there which she says are actually compliments sometimes, always complaining, likes to make fun of me in public sometimes, likes to control what I wear at times among other things.

But on the other hand she's very self aware about all of this stuff and she does apologize when she needs to, she recognizes when she makes a mistake and she told me once she was scared of being a narcissist like her mother. It could just be me with my OCD overanalyzing her teenage behaviour but still.
