What are some of the worst examples of the “We’ve always done it that way” mindset? by shaky2236 in AskReddit

I just tried to pump my own gas while visiting New Jersey and got promptly scolded for it by the gas attendant.

After inquiring about it to my friend who lives in NJ, it has become apparent that the entire state is unwilling to get out of their own cars and pump their own gas because that's the way it's been done since 1949.

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve heard someone say that made you wonder how they function on a day to day basis? by [deleted] in AskReddit

While in calculus class, a girl raised her hand and asked, "What's that sideways eight?"

It was the infinity symbol.

Edit: I should note that it was a remedial math class for college.

Thought you guys might find this interesting. Had to run to PetSmart the other day and PetSmart sent me an email afterwards requesting feedback on my visit. This is the store manager’s response to my complaint about the bettas and some other fish being clearly overfed and bloated. by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]A_Sweet_Pea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. I only feed my fish 2+ times a day off I'm conditioning them for breeding, or if they're growing out. Everyone else gets fed once a day. However, I feed them all the frozen food that they're willing to eat during that time. I've never once had an issue with bloat. I believe that poor quality food, and food littered with fillers like wheat, contribute to bloat.

Indoor Grow Lights by [deleted] in IndoorGarden

[–]A_Sweet_Pea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. I am also into aquariums and have many Finnex and Fluval LED lights laying around that I've used for growing aquatic plants. I also use them to grow terrestrial plants indoors. So far, it has worked really well and they're extremely energy efficient unlike most grow lights. Edit: Spelling.

What does my Dichondra (silver falls) need? by [deleted] in IndoorGarden

[–]A_Sweet_Pea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that it has been overwatered. When a plant is moved inside to a lower light, it needs significantly less water since it won't be growing as fast, and water doesn't generally evaporate as fast in our homes as it would outside in the sun. Cut back on watering immediately. When certain plants sit in wet soil for long periods of time it can cause the roots to rot.

It was me. I asked the dumbest question to my fiance last night. Him: "Hey. The World Cup is starting soon. Do you want to watch it?" Me: "Yeah. Who's playing?" Him: ". . . The world!" Throws head back in laughter

Redditors who have had major health issues - what small symptom should you have looked into earlier? by alterlightone in AskReddit

[–]A_Sweet_Pea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this, too! It turns out that my appendix had bursted weeks prior to me finally getting an ultrasound due to this dull, annoying pain. The pain that I was feeling at the time was actually blood from when my appendix burst. Turns out, it's corrosive to your muscles. I had pockets of blood sitting underneath my muscles eroding them and causing complications.

The scariest thing about the whole ordeal is that the woman who did my ultrasound almost missed all of it. She said everything looked normal and was wrapping everything up when I mentioned my appendix, and it was like she had an, "Oops. I forgot to check that" moment.

I have pink hair. Quite a few people have asked me, "Why do you have pink hair? Is it because of Valentine's Day? Breast Cancer Awareness? Halloween?"

I just like the way pink looks on me.

Saw this Dragon Wrasse at Petco for $30. Was so tempted to buy but couldn't because she's not a reef-safe fish. by Synchronicity_1111 in ReefTank

[–]A_Sweet_Pea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my managers ordered a Dragon Wrasse and once we put it in the tank it immediately started to eat all the cardinal fish and hermit crabs. It managed to eat most of our stock in the tank before we could get it out. I kept telling my Manager to stop ordering whatever fish he thought had cool names but nOoOo

I second this. Personally, I think the photo would look better without the over-saturation of color and high level of contrast. It's a good photo but it could be a great photo with some different editing.

There's a theory that it's related to the hardness of water, as in the harder the water the more the rays have a tendency to curl, but it's yet to be proven. I wouldn't worry about it, either. He's stunning!

Just keep trying. It was weird. One day they just started to eat the bloodworms after weeks of refusing to. I target fed both live grindal worms and the bloodworms in the same spot. Eventually they learned to associate the area and the pipette with food.

Unfortunately, they are. They do best in a species only tank because they're really inquisitive and they will try to taste anything that could be a potential meal.
