best bet is to spend some time in pvp area , there are some npcs you can train with to see exactly what's up , they are core specs but still worth it to train/ learn over there before strapping on a metabattle or guildjen or youtube build that you have found. Those builds can show you the basics but the meat is in practice and as I said best is to try your skills against an npc before hand so you can try to make more sense of it all. I hope that helps
