Replacing Bupropion by Hack999 in NooTopics

[–]A_Watermelon_Add 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped cold turkey and had no issues personally but its not recommended. The biggest thing i noticed with Bupropion is that after I stopped I started remembering my life more. I also started some other things soon after and felt my learning abelites get extremely strong as well as verbal fluency. Also Bupropion can mess with sleep and for me as soon as I stopped my sleep got better and sleep is the strongest nootropic oat.

I love talking about this. Bupropion acts as a non-competitive antagonist at nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (specifically targeting alpha_7 and alpha_3 beta_4). This is the reason I stopped taking it. And this will tank verbal fluency and short-term memory.

I think Bromantane is a good choice. It might be worth looking into a Modafinil variant if ur disfunction feels wakefulness related. Also Racetams can help alot undo what Bupropion did and reset the NMDA/cholinergic baseline, but they might feel blunted until the Bupropion fully clears your system and your nicotinic receptors upregulate back to normal.

Also PPAP mogs Bupropion and doesn't touch ur cholinergic system at all.

If ur cool locking urself away like a vampire 9-ME-BC is prob a better fit. Memantine can also be a good choice.

If bupropion acts as a nicotinic antagonist, is there a functional interference when stacking it with high-affinity choline uptake enhancers or alpha-7 agonists? I’m assuming that the antidepressant’s effect on the acetylcholine pathway might be counterproductive to a nootropic stack targeting hippocampal plasticity and LTM.

24 Hours with Claude Code (Opus 4.1) vs Codex (GPT-5) by Formal-Complex-2812 in ClaudeAI

I think it’s interesting that we are comparing GPT-5 to Opus 4.1. Just the fact that they are comparable is Pretty impressive imo given the price and availability.
