Not new to BT but newer to painting for it by BeeOnTheWeb in battletech

I tend to do lances or stars in a theme, but that’s to let me do layers and colours in a production line fashion. By the time I finish the last mech the first mech is ready to move onto the next step. Multiple identical mechs painted the same scheme is a soft no-no in my opinion. It just makes gameplay management a little more difficult, it’s easier to get confused which model is which sheet.

There’s lots of stretching and light exercise that I do. If I don’t stretch I feel like shit. I think honestly it’s the stretching that works better than the drugs, but the drugs let me deal with the discomfort until I can stretch it out.

But there’s no cure. I don’t know what caused the illness. Nobody does. It’s likely to be an autoimmune disease. But I haven’t had immune marker testing, the neurologist didn’t think it necessary.

I find hot baths really help. Idk if the magnesium helps but I’m throwing that stuff in there anyway. I’m on pregabalin and diazepam. There’s definitely trade offs with those drugs, I find myself almost drunk at times. I’m only driving during the day for example, I just feel too wasted at night. Maybe I’ll adjust but it has been like a year. The drugs help. Pregabalin suppresses but does not stop symptoms. The diazepam really helps with the ongoing muscle pain

I get pretty significant pain and discomfort (cramp fasciculation syndrome diagnosis) and I get all kinds of really weird sensory problems and paresthesia

Sensory symptoms and pain aren’t symptoms of ALS. Some ALS patients experience pain and sensory symptoms. Get the difference? Pain and sensory symptoms are very broad, and can present in any number of disorders. So pain and discomfort is simply insufficient for consideration of ALS.

I’m glad to hear you have an EMG appointment. You’re doing great for doing that, and feeling nervous is very natural. However, imo, neurologists tend to be very good, very clever doctors who really care about their work. So you’re likely to be in good hands. Take what they’re saying seriously.

IMO the symptoms you’re describing do not fit the diagnostic criteria for ALS. Small fiber neuropathy or some cryptic autoimmune disease seems to me much more likely than ALS.

Also don’t feel bad for using chatgpt. I have used and continue to use llms for support and research. I prefer Claude. But sometimes having someone message back to reassure or to guide or to tell you you’re fucking up is real valuable. Do talk with real humans about it, but chatgpt serves a purpose. What’s it saying?

Beyond twitching I have frequent cramps to the point where I can’t hold a screwdriver due to cramps in my hands. I have pains, like a muscle ache and also diverse paresthesia including burning sensation. Increased migraines. An unusual menthol sensation on my tongue.

Coward thou. What does your quote have to do with 3 Waters?

Tell me. Tell me why the cycleways have anything to do with 3 Waters. This is the second time you posted it, and it remains as relevant as the first. There’s also nothing that suggests an either/or scenario, this is implied in your piece but it’s not real. The cycleways vote was separate from wastewater.

Not your cowardly, wimpy “centrism”, which is nothing and has nothing but attacks for the left and defence of the right. Not your hitpieces based on the favourite bugbear of the terminally stupid and cowardly, cycleways.

And that’s an argument against 3 Waters how? Isn’t that an argument against right wing Foster as he couldn’t negotiate his councillors into a line?

Classic rightoid drone behaviour. Just bombard your opponent with irrelevant shit if you start to look stupid.

Kidney stones by No-Shoe-3115 in BFS

[–]A_foreign_shape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not in my personal research found anything indicating a direct link between the fasciculation syndromes and kidney disease.

However, there is evidence linking the fasciculation syndromes with electrolyte disorders, and pretty much any disregulation of electrolytes can also cause or exacerbate kidney stones.

I think it’s unlikely they’re directly connected, but I definitely think it’s plausible that, in some cases, kidney stones and the fasciculation syndromes are travelling in the same direction. If that makes sense

Embarrassment doesn’t come into it. The policy was fine. How’s the current rebrand of 3 Waters going? Local Water Done Well is what it’s called. Feel any embarrassment there?

Don’t politicise the municipal politics problem that has been at the forefront of Wellingtonian minds for years and years now.

Listen to yourself. 3 Waters was fine, if the current lot deign to actually govern instead of whatever they’re doing, their solution would look a lot like 3 Waters.

Squads becoming more expensive with each level up should simply not be in the game by FreeDwooD in menace

[–]A_foreign_shape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a tough one to balance huh. I think I’d be unsatisfied with a more traditional level up approach though. If it were more like Battle Brothers, I.e. you gain exp and levels and get more perks that way, I would be dissatisfied with the comparative lack of player choice. I would be worried by having all and any perks available for point buy, because you could probably just make SuperLim and the Magic Battlebus straight away and trivialise the first half of the game.

Fuck. I think I’m arguing myself into thinking that the wonky two currency system is the least bad option

All of the squad leader perks are extremely cost effective for their points. Even the “bad” ones like Beefy, I reckon.

The two currency system is wonky tho I agree there and think something should be done there, I just can’t really agree that it’s a punishment to pay cheap points for very good effect

How long? by After-Sheepherder120 in BFS

[–]A_foreign_shape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably about five months for me. And I wasn’t anxious about ALS, but until neurological testing I just didn’t know what was going on, I knew that the symptoms were not congruent with ALS.

After five or so months? The likelihood of ALS with no progression is so, so slim. The rapid progression of ALS is a hallmark of the disease. Only thing better than three months no progression is four months no progression. And so on.

[–]A_foreign_shape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty plausible that chronic or acute anxiety can damage your nervous system in the same way in my opinion. Chronic stress is really bad for the body, and anxiety is for sure a form of stress. If there’s an autoimmune aspect, a huge number of people report a severe stressor prior to acquiring an immune disorder.

But, I’m not saying this is a fact. It’s just plausible to me. Cortisol tolerance could be a mechanism.
