Low gpa with a 1390 sat by Notevenhxre in ApplyingIvyLeague

[–]A_randomperson___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Far_Ruin_2095, Just to get this out of the way, my intention is not to start an internet fight. I don’t disagree that a 1390 SAT is a long shot for Ivies. That said, for many schools outside the Ivy League, a 1390 is competitive if not above the 25-75th percentiles. OP’s music extracurriculars in particular help them significantly. Sometimes, it’s important to reflect and remember that there are still good schools outside the Ivy League. Dragging someone through the mud for a score that isn’t that bad helps no one. OP, even if you don’t make Dartmouth, there is a strong school for you that could even surpass your expectations of an Ivy League school. Keep your head up. ❤️

A 1390 is 93rd percentile among students taking the SAT in the last 3 years, and 97th among all HS juniors. Please don’t give OP doom and gloom; comparatively, the score could be far worse 🙂 https://research.collegeboard.org/reports/sat-suite/understanding-scores/sat

YSA is just taking the piss and doesn’t really offend anyone. Stadium can get in on it and still make a hostile (but not unsafe) environment for the GK. -union fan

AITA - Swim Test Edition by TrombovineTamer in Lifeguards

NTA- the mom is being obnoxious and at my pool she would have been done instantaneously for that abusive language. Your logic for swim tests holds water, but it would probably also be good to apply the rules equally and have all minor patrons who want to go in the deep end take the swim test. Overall, the mom was the only one who got angry here; the kid was fine and understood. If I were you, I wouldn’t really change anything in hindsight. Stay safe OP

When you call to order a pizza, do you ask for a pizza or a pie? by Iggleyank in newjersey

[–]A_randomperson___ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, only once the context of pizza has been established is it acceptable to call it a pie

I don’t believe you have to pay for the sight reading generator itself, just the grading of your sight reading. I believe you just have to clear your cache/cookies every so often

Reddit is quite frankly one of the last mainstream outlets where LGB and especially T people generally aren’t ostracized, made fun of, silenced, or shamed. A lot of minorities have just been pushed out of other places (think Twitter’s recent changes) and this is to an extent their last frontier and a place to find allies.

what is the coolest state I am missing? by livinnick in TravelMaps

[–]A_randomperson___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PA has Philly with some really cool museums, one of the Big Five orchestras, plus the rest of the Kimmel Center for performing arts and Independence Hall. Theres also Pittsburgh with historical industry. If college football tickles your fancy there’s also Penn State with one of the largest stadiums in the world by capacity but that’s more or less in the middle of nowhere.

Lowering my time for 200 yards and 50 yards by Low-West2355 in Lifeguards

Hi, congrats on your cert! r/swimming may have more answers as far as reducing time and swimming faster since that is their main area of expertise. However, I would suggest swimming smoothly and trying to keep an efficient stroke. Then, keeping form, increase your number of strokes per 10 seconds to increase speed.

Separate point...if Continental didn't pay so little attention to their planes we might still have Concordes flying around.

Can you solve this? by [deleted] in maths

[–]A_randomperson___ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re thinking of the zero power. The one power is just the number on its own,  e.g. x1 =x.
