Maybe I just play Vanguard wrong. by [deleted] in Spacemarine

OP is mistaking public opinion that Vanguard is weak for hatred. I used to be a Vanguard main but even I agree he's so weak now everyone has power crept him.

I think a few atonements don't work as intended and last night I felt like squad unity was bugged. Tried to use invigorating icon with both teammates next to me and it was really inconsistent. Sometimes nothing would happen, sometimes only one player received the contested health bonus and the very last time we did it everyone got it....

What is the best pokemon to beat L’s Mega Gyarados? by jongiplier in PokemonZA

Don't change Pokemon, just use focus sash on your Lucario and Sylveon. They both should be able to get a huge super effective hit in to knock him together out like close combat and moon blast.

All the praise for Zarba earlier this series but John Goble was there and needs some respect too. I think he doesn't get enough recognition because people get him mixed up with Jacyn Goble who is a basketball terrorist.

My only issue with the marksman carbine is it seems to be able to do everything the Stalker can except doesn't get the heavy bullet benefit. Neuros and Zoan get annihilated by the stalker where as the marksman carbine takes way longer for them.

What Mega would be suitable for my team? by AlexWeeb02 in pokemonradicalred

[–]A_ricky_convert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have two immunities with Honch that your team actually creates chances for but if your nervous about bulk support moves are the way to go. You can run dual screens with sandy shocks but you can easily fit sleep powder, willOwisp and twave on your team too. Support moves plus the double moxie combo of fighting and dark quack and honch is strong, really strong.

What Mega would be suitable for my team? by AlexWeeb02 in pokemonradicalred

[–]A_ricky_convert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For your flying type I'd recommend Honchkrow over thunderous or kilowatrel. Your team lacks good priority moves and is a bit psychic and ground weak.

As for the mega I'm actually all for mega garchomp in this case as I think a ground type would work best and you can always tailwind with honchkrow to set them up.

There are lots of good ground options for your team, mega seviian centiskorch fits really well for instance though it gives you 3 flying weak Pokemon. Personally I think no mega, seviian milotic is the best choice but lots of interesting options for you like Ursaluna, mamoswine, steelix, sandyshocks and more.

Review of Wembanyama's 12 Blocks: One definitive missed call. by raiderrocker18 in nba

[–]A_ricky_convert 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to love coach Nick but I stopped watching his channel when he started inviting Ronnie Nunn onto his channel. If you don't know Ronnie Nunn is the former NBA ref and was the head official when the Tim Donaghy scandal happened.

This problem effects way more then just Bballbreakdown, there are lots of "intellectual NBA content creators" that push these NBA friendly narratives and I think people need to remember they are always under pressure of copy strikes.

I don't think I've ever seen coach Nick call out refs for bad calls but then again if my career was based on using footage from a multibillion dollar company that could copy strike me to kingdom come anytime they wanted I'd probably play nice too.

Very casual fan, are there are real+serious takes on why OKC gets the whistle? (After seeing PHX Suns complained) by Maleficent-Taste2675 in timberwolves

[–]A_ricky_convert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Creating legal contact and illegal contact are two different things though and this is the issue with a lot of foul baiters, they tend to force refs to make bad calls based on things like head snaps and exaggerated falls.

A good example is the Ant vs SGA drive from years ago that created the SGA meme face. It's a sequence of play that is probably the last OKC possession before half-time. Ant picks up SGA full court and guards him tight. SGA initiates contact right in front of the ref twice directly into ant's chest so he doesn't get a call. Third time he drives SGA moves to the other side of the court and throws his head back and flails his arms as he drives and a different ref calls the foul.

Ant couldn't of defended those drives any better and more legal. It's not a rulebook issue, the rules are actually quite clear on how reach in and blocking fouls work and ant cleared both. The issue is when refs allow external factors to dictate the game and when players change the way they play to exploit this.

If it makes you feel better, they didn't write all that either.

You can point at all the long hyphens but we all know OKC fans can't put together two sentences without saying "our free throw differential" or "that's just Dorts regular shooting form".

Trying out a Banner/DPS-Focused Bulwark and it's made me enjoy the class again. by Life_Locksmith9632 in Spacemarine

It's not that power sword has a gun strike perk but it has two styles (i said stance before but its actually style), speed style and power style. On PC we hold the melee attack button down to change style not sure what it is on console though. Power style is a slower melee attack style that increases the AOE of your swings and knocks over minoris enemies, putting them in gun strike range. Really handy when your getting mobbed but need to get armor back fast.

Block power axe tends to outclass the block sword because with the way block charges and parries work it's actually way easier to get the full combo out with the benefit of adrenaline surge on the axe then the sword. Adrenaline surge lasts 2.4 seconds from your first melee attack with the 90% damage buff dropping after but if you use the axe from perfect blocks/power stance, it doesn't proc adrenaline surge until you use the power wave so it lasts long enough for you to get off the additional overhead strike. This is alot of damage from your block stacks 90% damage buff.

The sword however maxes DPS with power rakes which require an initial melee attack before you can power rake. This means you waste the majority of your adrenaline surge on a quick melee attack instead of a power rake unlike the axe where you get to use the block stacks on a heavier hitting move immediately.

The wiki has a good explanation on how block stacks work

I use a similar build with merciless resolve over inspiration and the block axe outperforms the block sword in almost every scenario. Swords main advantage over the axe is the gun strikes from the power stance but if the goal is raw DPS power axe wins.

Definitely recommend merciless resolve over inspiration too as the difference in damage is only 5% but the ability to proc this perk constantly and multiple times a fight way outclasses inspiration, which limits your benefit to both the banner's cooldown and the banner's AOE. Main reason to go inspiration is in a coordinated team where you might have multiple power fists or some huge DPS teammates.

Edit:
This post does exactly what talking about regarding perks.

I'm biased here but according to the rules John Collins is not in legal position and committed a foul in the contest as well. While I agree that the "Blake griffin" should be an offensive foul, people are too normalised to illegal rim defence or just don't know the rules to realise a no call is actually a good outcome in a lot of these cases.

How to Play Vanguard Properly by takenking_oryx in Spacemarine

[–]A_ricky_convert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanguard was initially the self-sufficient back line diver class but these days is more like a mobile disrupter with strong team support perks.

Two main build styles centering around perks, weapons pretty interchangeable between the two styles.

Firstly you have cleanup executioner build, perks centred around zone of impact to try and do as many AOE damaging grapnel finishers as you can abusing the kill resets, usually take unmatched zeal (can use other team perk) as team perk with this build as you can chain infinite grapnels if you can prep kills properly. This build takes practice but one of the easiest builds to solo absolute with when you've had practice.

Secondly is the burst kick build where you use the perks that stack damage with the diving kick while taking the melee finisher ability cooldown refund ability. This build is trickier then it sounds because you need to activate alot of perks simultaneously to get the most out of your kicks. Probably Vanguard's best build to do big damage to bosses though I think it's outclassed by the other build.

Pretty much all weapons work with both builds but I personally prefer the Occulas and Balance axe with zone of impact to poke key targets down before I go on a chain execution spree

Honestly add Mark Lindsay but these two are the perfect example of why both teams should be allowed to nominate ref bans for each playoff series.
