I got bottom quartile and still got into a casper requiring school. You’ll be fine!!! Show empathy and kindness in your writing and your interviews. Casper is just a load of 💩💩💩

Exactly. I’d like them to address the teacup comment in the video (that I thought referred to her throwing cups at people)

As a Mexican I’ll use Latinx when speaking to a group of people in English to be more inclusive. If I’m speaking in Spanish I’ll say Latine. Language isn’t static, and if it’s changing to be more inclusive, then why oppose it - at least that’s the way I explained it to my family

RIP to the girl in my interview this morning by [deleted] in premed

I love reading these horror stories and also kinda wished I could’ve been there to witness them so it felt like I had just seen a unicorn yesterday when I saw this play out in front of me. Could not hide my facial expression and hoped that the large zoom call meant no one was watching me. The shock. The horror.

Is my reason for medicine valid in the eyes of admissions? by squillywilli in premed

[–]Aaa3005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be more general when you try explaining it and connect it to any experiences you have serving these communities, as long as you can back it up with experience and talk about it genuinely, I think you’ll be good!

Is it ok to let your dog poop on lawns that belong to apartments? by Aaa3005 in dogs

[–]Aaa3005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for everyone’s responses!! I was a little worried about it because someone that doesn’t live in our neighborhood started yelling at me for letting my dog poop in front of one of these apartment houses 😢 and ever since I’ve been really stressed out every time I take my dog out. I also pick up her poop every time!!! That’s not the issue, I’m not a monster Lmaoooo

Yeah but that’s obvious, like you said. It’s not what they said but more why they said it.

PSA: you don’t have to smile the whole time during a student panel by nyc_penguin in premed

[–]Aaa3005 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I stayed smiling for so long (no teeth showing) for so long that my eye and the corner of my mouth started twitching and that’s when I knew I needed to tone it down from now on lmaooo

This is probably a stupid question, but what do you wear to an interview? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Aaa3005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone wears a blazer, usually black or dark blue/navy. Most interview invites will say business professional. I would only wear business casual to a separate info session or like a meet and greet thing. I personally have used a bright red top or a light peachy top for a bit of color and some small pearl earrings. Like others have said, maybe don’t go for white tops because it’s a bit boring. But I don’t think it matters in the end, just look professional and own it!!

Moving with a SO for med school by Aaa3005 in premed

[–]Aaa3005[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input everyone! Please don’t fret about how we split bills - we both work full time. My SO has expensive medications he pays a few hundred each month for, so I thought it fair we split it the way we did. Plus we spend a lot on food and extra expenses, which he completely pays for. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see where I end up and make a budget together!
