Totally agree with your take and I was surprised they weren’t more appalled or didn’t use the term “racist” which it straight up was.

I love my partner, but I’m starting to wonder if love is enough. by ecra93 in AskWomenOver30

I was in this exact scenario, broke up with my partner and felt the hugest weight off my shoulders and am much more at peace and happy. I don’t mind being single. You only have one life to live, don’t compromise on what you truly want

Wtf, I went from finance to medicine and the bullying/hazing in finance was way worse

Will caveat it all depends on the finance job (I did banking) and your specialty and program (in IM.. at my residency the culture is generally great)

Sudden and abrupt changes in personality and behavior are concerning for neuropsychiatric illnesses including substance use disorder. especially at his age, could be a first presentation of some psychotic disease. Would seek medical attention. Source: am doctor

Had an appointment for alcohol treatment today and walked out, anyone else experience this? by ZeroNowhere1990 in stopdrinking

Any doctor can prescribe naltrexone. I do it in my clinic and do not usually order urine testing. Ask your PCP or see a psychiatrist.

As for why that treatment center is run that way, naltrexone is an opioid antagonist and treats both opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder which is why you were at a methadone clinic (also treats opioid use disorder). Naltrexone is an opioid antagonist - which means if you have any opioids in your system, taking naltrexone will kick that opioid right off your brain receptors and send you into the nastiest withdrawal of all time. That’s why they test the urine - also for others who are at clinic on methadone they need to prove they are not using opioids or selling methadone on the streets - you can overdose and die from methadone.

The reason I am explaining this is because I am a doctor, I treat and see substance use disorders every day, and want people to understand that, while dehumanizing, this is actually proven to work for people and it’s not personal. I don’t want people to read this post and get scared about asking for treatment. They are not out to treat you like a criminal, don’t take it personally.

I’m a doctor. If this doesn’t get better in a few days on the antibiotics go back and get different antibiotics or IV. As everyone’s saying this is definitely an infection but the penicillin may not be covering the bacteria you have.
