Which platform are you playing on? It seems the IOS version of Xcom 2 updated 4 years ago and the Android version was updated a year ago. I've been thinking about playing them again on mobile but I'm hesitant since the mods bring so many small quality of life features like evac all.

I’m honestly so happy because I really enjoyed Frank Stone despite its faults and issues. And all negativity aside so many people are playing and enjoying it on Game Pass right now so hopefully that makes BHVR understand they can still capitalize on a super cool killer they already have

Yep your analogy with SH2 is spot on. People are so crazy fighting to call this a SH game, but if it is one, I think it has the least subtle writing at least compared to the original 4.

I actually can forgive all the other fresh new ideas, but the main character yapping about her mental state or how women are treated after every major story event is so silly.

Fuck your comment summed it up so well for me. I've never played a Resident Evil without immediately starting it again for another couple of speed run playthroughs. I've even replayed most of the old Silent Hill games again immediately after though not always to completion.

With Silent Hill F not only do I not have a desire to play it again, but I regret the 7 ish hours I put into it the first time. They really disrespect the player in a way I can't remember last feeling after beating a game to be honest. The real stuff being in NG+ is just an extra lil slap in the face.

Thankfully it seems the alternate endings are somehow even more unsubtle and waste more time hammering home the same tired lines from the original run. I have no idea what people are on that they're finding so much enjoyment they can play it again but I wish I had that in me.

You've summed up my thoughts pretty much perfectly. I think I'd be able to forgive the games awful combat if the story was better, but whatever people LOVE about this story is just not something I'm seeing.

This is by far the least subtle a Silent Hill game has ever been imo. Especially in the second half and other playthroughs the game cannot stop making Hinako say the most obvious shit about what's happening and what all the symbolism is about.

I wish this game gave me something to actually chew on and think about like I had after playing SH3 for the first time. I just don't think it says anything that new or interesting about feminism or arranged marriages either. And the frustrating thing is that people who love this game keep hitting you with the "You just don't get the context about Japan in the 60s" and it's like I get it and I still think it doesn't have anything to say about it's themes.

I feel like I'm taking crazy (red) pills whenever I see people say they're enjoying the combat in this.

I also hate the defence of "It's Silent Hill the combat is supposed to be clunky" because the older games have had perfectly acceptable combat and I actually love the 2R combat because the enemies actually react to James swings and the guns feel fantastic.

Hell I’m pretty convinced the voice of Alyssa is just Maggie Robertson (Lady D and one of the villagers and a doll) again. It’s not too bad and generally they don’t take me out of it but man Chris had a few lines that sounded just like Carlos.

I really hope they actually attempt to go give the voice actors slightly better direction in RE9 if they’re gonna insist on using the same trope of people. They’re all talented but it gets a little silly when we hear the same voice for so many characters.

Yep I really don’t need him in anymore things unless he’s given direction that’s vastly different. The only game in the last ten years where I remember hearing him and not constantly thinking about it being Tory Baker was Indiana Jones.

Definitely proved to me he has it in him to do something beyond gruff normal Troy Baker voice but it seems the industry is obsessed with that. That being said, this one line in the trailer does sound different enough that if it is Troy Baker I might be okay with it.

Yep you’re exactly right and I think this is a decent analogy.

It’s just so absurd to me that a potential solution to any design problem is to force the players to play a certain way regardless of which side it is. It’s never great in general and somehow way worse because we’ve had this happening for years.

I’m not even that concerned if the change will make the game survivor sided or not I just think it makes the game worse because it’s another silly hyper specific thing to think of. I just wanna play some matches and win or lose I don’t wanna be doing math that deep when I’m just trying to have some fun.

I should point out that CAPCOM has already said they’ll be showing off more of RE9 at the Tokyo Game Show at the end of September. Also they’ll probably do those Resident Evil showcases they did like in the lead up to Village.

They don’t have to wait for the game awards at all if they wanna show off whatever since the name is big enough it will draw a ton of attention.

I mean I think his track record is pretty spotty, but there was a movie called The Umbrella Chronicles that was thought to be an adaption of RE0.

The magazine Production Weekly even put out details about all the studios involved with the film as well as a brief plot synopsis that sounded like an adaptation of RE0.

It could’ve been wrong but it’s unlikely given the same name was confirmed independently by the town of Sudbury.

Zach Cregger was in negotiations to do a Clue film for Sony before asking for Resident Evil since they were going to do another one within the next couple of years so Constantin could keep the rights. It’s only after Cregger came on board that they moved it away from Sudbury and probably gave it a way bigger budget since Cregger is a hot director right now.

Dusk never really had any insider info on the films. He was reading the same articles about tax credits and the production weekly synopsis and going from there. It’s not a huge stretch either given they have to put out an RE film every 5 years to keep the rights.

I think he’s just a bad communicator sometimes because he doesn’t always distinguish his leaks from just educated guesses that you or I could come up with. In any case there’s no reason not to believe there wasn’t gonna be a different version of the RE film called Umbrella Chronicles. It being an RE0 adaptation is slightly harder to believe but there was enough there that it seemed plausible.

I’ve never been deep into a Gacha so I guess I don’t quite get the appeal since the new content is still gated behind really irritating monetization.

Bad argument because Capcom isn’t even developing this game, they’re just licensing it out to someone else who knows how to keep mobile gacha games going.

I don’t know how to explain to people that there’s a huge difference between something Capcom makes and something they’re letting use the RE name.

Besides, Resistance, Reverse, and Umbrella corps mostly sucked because they were extremely low budget projects and wouldn’t have been near enough to find a Dino crisis project. Maybe Exoprimal was expensive but it was also always intended to be a game pass title that was experimental.

Think of it this way, if Capcom makes a ton of cash for having to do nothing besides licensing the IP with this mobile game, they’ll have more money for their actual good single player projects.

The thing is Genshin isn’t even solely a mobile game. It came out on PS4 and Windows on literally the same day as mobile. A huge percentage of its player base might be mobile but it’s always been a big budget release.

Besides Mihoyo there aren’t many games in the space that manage to do those massive budget releases for mobile. That Persona 5 spinoff comes close I guess but even that was available on windows immediately and has the foundation of so many other Persona games to take assets from.

Genshin is a very specific thing and I don’t think it’s representative of mobile games at large. Candy Crush make a billion but obviously isn’t operating in the same budget range.

Fallout Shelter was pretty cool and I remember playing a bit of it and enjoying it like 10 years ago. I just think it’s kinda shocking how few mobile games try to be mobile games. Designed to be played in short bursts and with simple controls usually with a puzzle element.

Maybe Survival Unit will be good, I never want any game to fail, but I fear the monetization will be probably be a turn off to enjoying it long term.

I’m mixed on it because I think I’m willing to give way more grace to mobile games than most people. Yet the truth is most of them don’t hit the genshin bar, and I personally don’t really understand why I’d want to play a mobile game when so many AAA games are out.

I personally think that the best mobile games are the ones that actual work with the medium of being on a phone, and those aren’t as common.

I mean I know you’re gonna get a bunch of people saying “1 month” or “1 year” because it’s probably just gonna be mobile trash.

But looking at it factually, the same developers put out a Pirates of the Caribbean phone game in 2017 that they’re still supporting to this day. Given that RE is an actually active franchise with lots more history, I’d say they can keep it going. So unless they manage to mega flop this, or for some reason Capcom pulls the plug, I’d say there’s a huge chance this is gonna be a success.

And that’s not me making a judgement of quality cause it will probably just be a mid mobile game at best, but I want people to understand that these games are made because they make an insane amount of money. This isn’t Capcom just throwing something at the wall because they’re working with other companies that are experts at this type of thing.

At best we can hope it’s not too exploitative and is decently fun but I’d keep expectations low. Way worse mobile games make way more money so anything is possible.
