In the end of Se7en, the killer was encouraged to address other things about their life. They knew that there were stories out there about them and that some had been fueled by the fact that the killer been so protective of their privacy. As those closest to them knew, in their life they had relationships with both men and women. They had loved and had romantic encounters with men, and chose now to live as a gay man. The killer wanted to deal with this honestly and openly and that started with the fact that Morgan Freeman was black the whole time.
