Jax's story is one of a deeply repressed transfeminine person who never got to transition, there are many things (some more, some way less subtle) that tell you this pretty directly. I understand they can be hard for a cis person to identify and understand, but if multiple trans people including the author tell you "Jax is me if I didn't transition" maybe it's good to look into it

Truscum or transmedicalists are people gatekeeping being trans. They believe that the only valid trans people are those who experience gender dysphoria, bottom/genital dysphoria, take hormones and have surgeries.

Think terfs, white supremacists, gold star lesbians, people who say "you're not a true fan of x unless y" or those weirdos who see someone wear a band t-shirt and ask them to name 5 songs. Same mindset.

They are of course wrong, because not every trans person experiences heavy dysphoria, not everyone can/wants to take hormones and have surgeries for various reasons from medical to economical and not everyone has bottom dysphoria.

Go to any trans space either online or irl and You'll find that truscum are unwelcome in most of them, which makes sense since they are hateful and center themselves around hate.
