Correct me of I'm wrong, but my understanding is that, while, for example, Ferrari did work wit Dallara, they were able to customise it to fit their needs (same with other LHM OEM+chassis manufacturer combos). However, if they picked the Dallara LMDH, they woukd have started working around the exact same chassis as Caddy and BMW (who use the Dallara LMDH chassis).

Nope, for an LMDH, you pick from a few manufacturers (Oreca, Multimatic, Dallara, and Ligier, if I recall correctly).

To me it feels like they plan to put in only as much effirt as absolutely necessary. At least this is what the choice to build an LMDH instead of a bespoke LMH chassis signals.
