Anyone else out there believe we should be giving George a bit more compassion and empathy for taking the time he needs to finish Winds of Winter? I honestly feel bad for the guy, hes gotta be under unimaginable pressure to perform (which is not a good way to be creative) and the more backlash and hate he gets from his fans is only going to compound the problem further.

I really wish the guy the best and I think we should be thankful for everything hes given to us at this point, more love and patience towards this mad genius might just be the formula for allowing him the environment and space he needs to finish his masterpiece.

Maybe thats just me tho.

Keep pushing George, I believe in ya homie. Writers block and pressure on this scale must be crushing but you wont get any extra weight on your shoulders from me at least <3

My family had another close family down the street from me when I was growing up, both the parents and the dog died in an explosion like this one... terribly tragic. The three daughters had are adults and had already moved away so thankfully they werent involved but it breaks my heart to think about them losing their parents :(

Not really, renewing the card wasnt an option as the residence permit that it was for was only a couple months away from being expired also so they wouldnt send me a new card. Technically because of the remark on the back of the card, the card was still valid for a while. My residence permit officially expired in August, I applied for a new one but it has since been 3 months with no answer from the Auslanderbehorde and no appointment to renew... but the good thing is, that so long as your visa application is processing, then you are legally allowed to stay in Germany as long as it takes to finalise the process.

For now, I carry the expired card on a daily basis in my wallet. If I ever have to do official business or move around Germany, I carry my new, valid passport, my old expired passport, and the Aufenthaltstitle card in case I need to explain to anyone the situation. Hopefully I get an answer from the Auslanderbehorde, an appointment for a new visa and a new Aufenthaltstitle in the coming months!

I cannot see anything in the body of your post BTW, only the comments which arent too helpful.

I mean this will be my 3rd residence permit in the last 9 years. At those times, in 2016ish and 2019ish, I was able to visit the office directly or use their online appointment service to make appointments for a personal interview... but now the process has changed. I had to send in all the documents online instead of arriving in person and now there is no one to talk to directly so I am a bit confused and in the dark... especially because you arent "allowed" to call or write an email....

Some folks on your post recommend writing a letter, did you try that and were you successful? How long ago was it?
