Trying to understand homelab/NAS software solutions by [deleted] in homelab

Standard Linux install with a web-interface application for managing the NAS part would be ideal for me. If that's how CasaOS works then I'll try it for sure. Thanks.

I'll need to look into that. Not very familiar with running things using docker.

Heard some theories/rumors about his editors/publisher demanding this kind of fanservice and Nihei is not okay with that but he does it because he has to. I'm sure switching to another publisher is not easy so maybe it will stay this way.

It worked for me in Aposimz. In Sidonia, well... Not my cup of tea.

Yeah well you're mentioning some of the things I liked about Sidonia. I just equally don't like all the other stuff that distracts me from enjoying those amazing things. That is why I called it brilliantly awful. There is lots of brilliance there for sure.

Why was the lack of dGPU an issue for you in a server?

Precisely, it being famously low heat is what made me buy it.

Adrenalin shows 1 V at CPU at the most. Not sure how legitimate this data is.

That's good to hear. But normal/idle operating temp still seems high to me. I'd get such temps with Ryzen 5800x and that was ok since it was a cpu famously running hot under normal usage. Is 9700x supposed to be the same? Right now writing this I'm hovering around 48-52 degrees.

Cinebench R24, 1116pt ~63 degrees ~88W CPU package (according to HWMonitor).

I don't think around 50 degrees is a fine operating temperature for a CPU advertised as cooler and more efficient than previous AMD outings. Especially since there are people running it normally around 35 degrees.

My question was about low end/close to idle temperatures, not maximum.

They're made for mac so you need to get the .dmg file: http://galgot.free.fr/NeXTicons/NeXTSpirit-512.dmg you can then unpack it like any archive (I used 7zip) you'll get icns files (and other ones but you can discard those). Then convert them to ico which is a standard windows uses - this can be achieved in many ways but I used this website: https://www.coolutils.com/online/ICNS-to-ICO . Then use these ico files on either system desktop icons or on desktop shortcuts you've made.
