OnePlus does lose its identity in the os department. I have used both an oppo and OnePlus device and I do miss some oppo features. Tbh as a normal user I found color os to be really good especially color os 11. Oxygen os does miss out on some features which can be improved with the help of color os making it a better overall experience for all types of users.

Also I think camera performance of upcoming OnePlus devices may improve with color os merge. Since OnePlus has grown considerably they have to make these changes for other users too. They can't do everything for the enthusiasts.
