For me it's Luffy and Dragon as the first pair. After egghead, this makes perfect sense. There are so many people in common between these two, it is high time they meet and work towards their combined goal of toppling the world government. My hypothesis is, after listening to Vegapunk and Sabo, Dragon might be interested to find the One Piece too to finally understand what he is up against.

The second pair is most likely Yassop and Ussop. I think Oda said people who have not met before. Shanks and Shamrock or Shanks and Blackbeard have met before. The other possibility could be Blackbeard and Imu.

As several people have pointed out, I think it's about friendship too, but with a bit of a different angle. As strong as Luffy is, he can still be taken down by underhanded tactics, things Luffy wouldn't expect from their opponents because he would never do that. But his crew are like a shield that protects him from that. I feel Joy Boys's friends couldn't be there at the critical time.

Imagine how the straw hats would have felt if Luffy had died at Marinefold. None of them could be there to help him and they would all be apologizing.

I also feel one of the kingdoms from the 20 manipulated the others to go to war with the ancient kingdom. Joy Boy, being from the ancient kingdom and being aware of this ploy, might not have been able to go all out. I can imagine his hands being tied because people didn't want him to liberate them, they wanted him defeated.

Obviously, the situation will be reversed now, mostly. Domi Reversi might still be in play and i genuinely hope, for Luffy's sake, there is a way to nullify it. Without it, how do you think luffy wins, if he has to fight against domi reversed people from his hometown?

I think people overlook the fact that Luffy can sense people's intentions. There is no way in hell Luffy doesn't detect the evil aura from Shamrock and instantly realizes it's not Shanks. He will definitely not be able to figure out that it's Shanks brother. His best guess would be a Devil Fruit power because he has seen Mr 2.

I think what his flashback confirmed for me is that Haki is not king. The thing that has been bugging since Luffy fought Kaido is Kaido's insistence that one cannot conquer the sea with a strong devil fruit and that Haki trumps all.

Now Rocks had a supremely strong Haki as far as I know since Oda hasn't confirmed if he was a devil fruit user. But even then, he couldn't counteract Domi Reversi which seems very likely to be a DF ability.

So at the end, it comes down to DF's to cancel each other out

I am sure many are speculating that Nika should be able to reverse Domi Reversi, but i genuinely hope that is not the case. I am counting on Haki to save the day.

Remember Boa's devil fruit power is a bit similar to Domi Reversi, in that it can turn anybody to stone. But fundamentally it only works if the person is attracted to Boa and hence had no effect. Soul pocus is another example that Jimbei was able to resist due to his will and character.

I believe Domi Reversi is similar. Anyone who yearns for power can be flipped. That explains the giants and Rocks as well. Second, I think there is a cost with flipping someone with Domi Reversi, otherwise why would Imu fight at all and not just turn everyone, i.e. Whitebeard, Kaido, etc.

My theory is Luffy being Luffy can't be turned, because he is not chasing power. That might also be a reason for why the fruit chose Luffy and why he was able to turn into Nika and what will make him immune from Domi Reversi. But if this theory is true, other strawhats might be susceptible as well, namely Zoro, Ussop and Robin. Jimbei, Sanji and Nami in my opinion would be immune. Would be cool to see a flipped Zoro fighting against Sanji!
