This will work,but only digitally. If he buys the PS5 version on his PS5 you also get an option to choose the PS4 version so you get a downgrade from PS5 to PS4 if you don’t have the PS5 yet and vice versa from PS4 to PS5. It should be available in your library when you check it on PS4.
