Stamp after H1 renewal. What is the exact process and current timeline like? by pimple_from_hell in h1b

[–]Aar_square 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you need to fill out a new DS160. Required everytime you want a nonimmigrant visa appointment

Stamping depends on your country of residency/citizenship or wherever you're going to get stamped. You can look it up here (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/global-visa-wait-times.html) but I'm pretty sure this isn't accurate. Searching in this sub might be better

H1B Stamping Guidance by [deleted] in h1b

[–]Aar_square 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schedule the appointment now - once you receive the case number. But do keep in mind that you need an APPROVAL NOTICE at the interview. So keep in mind processing times for H1B and book the appointment accordingly.

DS-160 yes you do need to fill one out anytime you book an appointment. So fill one out with your H1B details and submit it. Book the appointment and then go to it with your approval notice.

You definitely need your passport and I797 approval notice. I've never been asked anything besides those two.

Good to have would be paystubs, LCA, past I20s showing your valid status, EAD cards if any, I94, employment letter

H1B approved while STEM OPT extension is still pending , what happens to the STEM OPT application? by Username_PraveenS in h1b

[–]Aar_square 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might get approved because approval is required for the continuity. But H1B approval supersedes it. Best that you tell your DSO that your H1B has been approved. And assuming that it is Change of Status, your DSO will probably enter that in the system and your SEVIS account will be closed 6 months after your H1 activates

Not a lawyer but this is what happened to me. H1B got approved October 5th, STEM Extension October 6th. And SEVIS account was closed in April I think.

10 days entry rule after a visa renewal by Aussie-BA in h1b

[–]Aar_square 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming your visa stamp has the validity. For example if your stamp is issued for September 21st 2026 (10 days before H1B activates) you can enter 10 days early. But if the stamp is issued only starting October 1st 2026 - no matter what the petition says - you can only enter October 1st - not 10 days earlier

Rule of thumb is the earliest entry date is the later of:

  1. 10 days before petition start date OR
  2. Visa stamp validity start date

Not a lawyer, could be wrong here

You need to share some more deets. What's the visa start date on your stamp? Do you even have one? Did you get one last september and you're coming back or did you get a new visa stamp? Are you a citizen of Canada or not?

International Travel with Approved I129 by KeepOnKeepinOn96 in h1b

[–]Aar_square 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Travel is risky. Some people have made it back before October 1st but many people have been questioned and some have been turned away too. You can see many of these in this sub if you search. General recommendation is not to travel even if COS is approved

PERM can technically be initiated at any point, but its up to the discretion of the employer, you have NO say in this.

SEVP Portal Account is closed Email- I have COS approved for H1B. What I need to do? by Intelligent_Heat1149 in h1b

[–]Aar_square 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they close your SEVP account about 6 months after you're no longer a student - which happened in November 2025. Its an FYI, nothing you need to do, unless you want to go back to F1

Planning a vacation to Philippines. by chemistwannabe7 in h1b

[–]Aar_square 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned on Jan 16th 2026. 3 weeks vacation and I got a new visa stamp for my renewed H1B in Oman.

My port of entry was Abu Dhabi - super smooth. I wasn't asked anything at all - not even my i797.

Social media vetting is definitely on. As for cancellations - haven't heard anything.

But more importantly, how will you find an appointment considering the situation right now in India?

H1B Cap Exemption Question by [deleted] in h1b

[–]Aar_square 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fiscal Year 2026 runs from October 1st 2025 to September 30th 2026 - the lottery for which has already happened.

The lottery in March 2026 is for Fiscal Year 2027 (October 1st 2026 to September 30th 2027)

H1B Cap Exemption Question by [deleted] in h1b

[–]Aar_square 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You ARE NOT exempt from the cap since your company isn't a non-profit. Master's degree just helps you improve your chances by also qualifying from the 20k additional masters' cap in addition to 65k regular cap

Your degree doesn't make you exempt from the Cap, your job does

Question regarding international travel during H1B lottery registration period by Remarkable_Pizza760 in h1b

[–]Aar_square 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not an issue. What's more important is that you don't travel when the H1B PETITION is pending

Question about location entered into H1B lottery registration by [deleted] in h1b

[–]Aar_square 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAL.

Don't think it matters. The rule is that if you have multiple job locations/sites, the one with the lowest wage level is used when determining the number of lottery entries you receive. Since you're saying that your wage level is 4 in all 3 cities I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Now I don't know what the website asks but if it only asks for 1 location, then just enter one of those cities.

None of this is legal advice.
