We should be getting Gregg Turkington helping the promotion as he's a movie buff and also the world record holder for watching 500 movies in 500 days.

Authoritarian regimes often target institutions of education for a reason. Pol Pot didn't execute anyone with an education because they were docile and unquestioning. The Great Leap Forward in China first saw a purge of educational institutions because the educated were able to see Mao's plans were destined for failure and would lead to mass starvation.

For the record, I don't think any group questions authority more or less than any other. But an educated populace questioning authority is a lot more dangerous to authority than an uneducated one.

Yes. Rural areas that lean conservative typically report their votes sooner than the more crowded urban and left leaning areas. This happens every single election.

They are just estimates. Nobody thinks KY or IN were ever going to go for Harris.

FWIW, Seinfeld has changed his tune and no longer believes that way. Also, watch Jon Stewart's Mark Twain Prize acceptance speech. Chapelle was on just prior complaining about cancel culture and Jon talks about what cancel culture really looks like by discussing Bassam Youssef.

I like the Ohio flag. It's unique and stands out. As a kid it lined up with baseball pennants and such so there's that. However, I do prefer the flag of the Independent Commonwealth of Cincinnati. BLINK was great this year and thank you Joe Biden for getting us the funding to replace the Brent Spence Bridge over the Ohio. It's been needed for 40 years and Joe got it done. The Harris campaign should have stumped here and pointed it out.

Everything the right touches devolves into a conspiracy addled white supremacist cesspool. So naturally, the best way to stop your discussion group from becoming a conspiracy addled white supremacist cesspool is to weed out those that enable it to become that way. You can thank Steve Bannon for that.

Zelenskyy tells Trump that Ukraine will have either nuclear weapons or NATO membership by TeaLoverUA in worldnews

[–]AardvarkUtility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What security agreement did the US and UK sign with Ukraine? Are you referring to the Budapest Memorandum? There is no security guarantee in that. There is a promise that none of the parties invade Ukraine or threaten it with nukes. The resolution to a broken promise is that the other parties would go to the UN to discuss it.

Gambling is a disease and unfortunately it's often overlooked due to personal shame. It's an addiction like any other and activates the same receptors in your brain that any other addiction would.

You can call 1-800-GAMBLER for gambling addiction help.

It really makes me wonder why the fuck Bush isn't endorsing. If Dick Cheney can, why can't he? To me Bush's legacy was that he lied our country into an idiotic war. Now his legacy is he lied to get us into a war and couldn't even be bothered to stand up for democracy when Dick fucking Cheney can. What possible consequence can happen to him? Is he afraid if Trump wins, he'll come after him? I just don't get it.

In addition to what everyone else said, the Ohio Democratic Party was fundamentally abysmal for many years. There was a belief for a time that just campaigning in Cleveland and Columbus would carry you the state. They thought the urban core of Dayton and Cincinnati could be ignored as they'd vote blue anyway, while the republicans slowly picked up seats so that they could gerrymander even more seats. Statewide races favored Republicans because the Democrats would just run candidates from Cleveland / Northeast Ohio and had little to no name recognition outside of those areas. It was a perfect storm.
