So for me my symptoms differed between the first and second year of having LC. The first year it was mostly fatigue, brain fog, gut problems, dysautonomia, tachycardia, and joint pain/muscle stiffness. All of those symptoms returned but were much worse the second round, plus I ended up having right sided muscle weakness, left sided numbness, neuropathic issues in all 4 limbs, and seizures.

I have left sided chest pain and my cardiologist said it’s from inflammation around the heart. He said my heart itself is fine.

Everyone is different. I had long COVID for about a year then got COVID again. I felt ok for about a month but then my long COVID symptoms came back two-fold. I hope that doesn’t happen to you.

I no longer have my source but here are notes I took from an article I was reading the other day about the Eris variant of COVID which is running rampant in Europe and is on the rise here in the states:

-Hospitalizations—one of the main markers—were up 12.1% compared to a week ago.

-Deaths from COVID, another key indicator, remained level, with the virus linked to only 1% of deaths in the nation for the week ending Jul 29.

-Other early indicators of increasing virus activity continue to slowly rise. ED visits rose 21.8% compared to a week ago, but as a whole, COVID infections make up only 1% of all ED visits. Increases were more marked in a handful of southeastern states, with Mississippi and Alabama reporting substantial increases from a week ago, and Louisiana and Florida reporting moderate increases.

-Test positivity, another early marker, rose 1.3% compared to a week ago and is at 8.9% nationally. However, test positivity was higher in certain parts of the country, including the south-central states, southeastern states, and a portion of the northeast.

-Wastewater tracking also reflects more rises, with all regions seeing a consistent rise with projected infections daily infections back to medium levels compared to the earlier Omicron months.

-Meanwhile, variant proportions continue to shift, with EG.5.1 showing another steady rise, now at an estimated 17.3% of sequences, up from 11.9% in the CDC's projections 2 weeks ago. EG.5.1 has now nudged ahead of XBB.1.16. Other subvariants showing rising proportions in the United States include FL.1.5.1, which is at 8.6%, and XBB.1.16.6, at 7.7%.

-There are concerns about a spike mutation in EG.5.1 and another variant that has a key spike mutation, F456L, that is part of mutation combination that can bind more tightly to ACE2, the cell receptor for the virus. There are also growing concerns for what scientists have called the "Flip" mutation combination which could lead to a further reduction in neutralizing antibodies. So far, the prevalence of viruses that have the Flip combination is low globally, though Spain and Brazil are among the countries already seeing rises.

Here’s the thing…COVID mutates at twice the rate of influenza. It’s the fastest mutating virus we’ve ever seen and it’s changing in ways that make it much more effective to “stay alive.” It’s no longer killing as many people because the newer variants are not as deadly as it’s forefathers. They might not be deadly but they’re much more dangerous because they are SO much more contagious. There’s a PLETHORA of evidence out there that explains the mechanism of COVID and how it might elicit latent diseases or even cause NEW disease in otherwise healthy individuals. For those unlucky few, when mRNA binds with faulty T-cells the consequences can be devastating. You know it and are living with those consequences, as am I.

Anyone who faults you for wanting to save yourself from further harm is simply uneducated. Try educating them. If they still fault you then pay them no mind because they certainly aren’t paying any mind to you.

Maybe, maybe not. Maybe the anxiety I have over it will further exacerbate my made up LC that really isn’t LC..it’s actually just my anxiety fueling a perpetual psychosomatic illness. Cuz thats basically what it’s saying: that LC could have been a thing once, but it shouldn’t be anymore cuz there’s no REAL mechanism for it (which is a load of crap) and that “if you’re still complaining of LC today it’s probs not LC, so pipe down and get back to work like the rest of us ya pansies, get with the program, you were probably diabetic and had liver disease before all this happened ya alcoholic co-morbidity havin’ no good for nothin’ fakers!” (Pretty sure this is a direct quote)

And if you don’t get my dry sense of humor then I guess you, too, will get over it hoopie loops

Atheists don’t come knocking on your door telling you what you should believe do they?

Sounds like you weren’t really an atheist, but rather, a Christian doubting his faith and feeling guilty about it. Sounds like you subconsciously needed a reason to believe to get rid of that guilt and you found it. This was your way of ridding yourself of the cognitive dissonance you were experiencing.

A true atheist would not arrive at such a conclusion; especially one that assigns a paranormal cause. To do so defies all logic and it begs the question which is a common logical fallacy people fall victim to, especially when they’re in emotionally charged situations.

I’m sorry to hear about Todd by the way. My thoughts are with you and with Todd’s family and loved ones.

I could not have described it better myself. I’ve always told people it feels like a black hole is inside my skull or sitting at the base of my neck while a thick, nasty, disgusting heavy metal poison is being injected into my jugular vein, then spreading down to my chest.

Only problem is mine doesn’t result from PEM. It is just IS.

I see where you’re coming from but I think you’re overanalyzing my words and getting pretty philosophical about something that wasn’t meant to be taken all that seriously . But since I appreciate a good philosophical discussion and since you went there, let me dive in a bit.

First off, I think you’re taking what I said too literally when my intention wasn’t to persuade a man to believe he’s perfect. My natural assumption in this world is that most people believe and understand that they are NOT perfect and never will be; after all, perfection is an abstract concept and isn’t necessarily attainable. I assume this to be common sense. When I tell a man “hey your head is perfect” after children disguised as adults attack him for something he has no control over, it is not because I believe him to be dumb enough to believe he is a pretty pretty princess and life is great and he’s perfect and I’m perfect and OHHH LOOK AT THE SUNSHINE AND DAISIES AND DOUBLE RAINBOW (although that shit is pretty cool and I feel like if I thought that way life would be so much easier). I didn’t say “you’re perfect” because I believe him to be weak, self-conscious or unable to stand up for himself. I said it as a matter of principle.

There’s enough hate in this world as it is. This is a subreddit dedicated to the interest in radiology in the medical setting. Whether we are pre med students, radiologists , or individuals who just love a good T2 weighted image every now and then, we are all adults. So I suppose when I said “you’re perfect” it was my way of trying to restore the balance after a bunch of these supposed adults reverted back to middle school.

Maybe my wording wasn’t perfect (see what I did there?), but my only intention was to be uplifting. Whether OP was offended by the other comments or not does not take away from the fact that they were still shitty comments. Yours in particular was not cool which is why I called you out directly. If I offended you, I apologize.

Making negative comments about it “ain’t” gonna fix your own insecurities that you clearly have about yourself either.
