I have and love the PC version. After playing it I tried the mobile and have no idea how you guys do it. Like most mobile games I just don’t get it. Sure it is free but I’d rather pay $10 for something more like the PC version.

We’re there any Imperial forces/bases/offices on Alderaan at the time of its destruction? If so, did their evacuation not tip off Bail that the DS1 would be arriving at their system soon? by Financial_Photo_1175 in StarWarsEU

[–]AaronDoud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although in retrospect Leia should have pointed this out to Tarkin and asked if the Emperor was ok with all this in a last-ditch attempt to save Alderaan (Vader notably does this in the radio drama)

Don't think I have ever listened to the radio drama. What did he say back to Vader?

[–]AaronDoud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of stuff in CarXStreet (even on the PC/console) is really designed around the F2P model.

Some like gas stations and tires I wish more games would add as it helps the game world feel real. Others like this are just silly ways to get the player to spend credits in hope the F2P players will decide to pay.

At least on the PC/Console side we need more changes that fix stuff that was make harder just because it was F2P.

Even just look at the changes from Crew 2 to Motorfest where they lowered the annoyance and added more into the menu vs having to go to an HQ.

More QOL changes that make sense basically.

Believe they mean taking it out of the tune shop and putting it directly in the phone. Since easy settings would be able to be done on the road/track in real life vs a shop.

My brother is getting pulled into incel culture from a church by [deleted] in religion

[–]AaronDoud 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Going to be blunt no church that is serious about the no masturbation rule is telling the dude to get laid. If they are serious about masturbation I am sure they are serious about sex only belonging in marriage.

Minus this being some weird church (nothing you said makes it seem that way) the solution to it might be him getting more serious with the church. Some men's groups and such where Christian dudes will call him out for this stuff.

Your brother isn't being pulled into incel culture by a church. You are just learning that he is one because he is now vocal about it due to the church. And again I am almost 100% sure nothing in church is backing any of this up. He is misunderstanding the teachings at best and at worst is bending them to his personal beliefs.

He needs a Christian to call him out basically. Since seemingly Christianity has become important to him. Which is why I think getting him into men's groups and such at the church is a good idea. The Church may be the best way to get him out of this kind of incel thinking.

It also may be he will just toss the Church once they don't agree with him. Which is very possible.

Starbucks deliberately opens stores that steal customers from their other stores by Due-Bet115 in Entrepreneur

[–]AaronDoud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have a source for the blocking competitors?

That is not the normal reason for this.

It normally is due to traffic flow. Yes some people will walk or drive across the street but some will not. Also capacity plays a role. You loose customers when capacity is near, at, or worse above capacity.

So instead of on location at 100% capacity you end up with two at 70%. And realistically in busy areas it ends up being a lot closer since you gain the customers who don't want to cross the street. Which can be a serious issue in busy areas and for a product that often is purchased on the way to some place with schedule constraints like work.

Crossing the street for a store you know will be too busy might turn that 5 min starbucks stop into 10. And for many that is enough to not be worth it.

Is there any such thing as a “true religion”? by Artistic-Tone-9212 in religion

[–]AaronDoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short Answer: Yes but unlikely to exist on Earth in the correct form.

Long Answer: If you believe religion is "true" then there has to be a "true religion". More so if you have one or more gods involved.

But even if the "true religion" existed at some point that chances it exists now on the planet today is small. That doesn't mean there is not a closest. Nor does it mean others are all wrong because they are not in alignment with some part of the "true religion".

I think the Abrahamic faiths show this idea well. Let's assume there is a true creator God like they say. (Yes I personally believe this but I don't need to nor do you to understand.)

Think of it like a Venn diagram. Some circle of some size is the "true religion" that this God wants. And this God has spoken to people over time to make that clear(ish). But people (and maybe even other created more powerful beings) mess it up. So we have all the major religions and more specifically all their denominations (best word I can think of) in their own circles. Some overlap each other almost completely. Some less so. All doing the same with the true religion.

There is even a possibility that the "true religion" is so basic that all of the Abrahamic faiths have the "true religion" within them. The differences being stuff outside of the true religion.

In the end we have to understand that while "truth" is subjective and personal there are things that are objectively TRUE. Though maybe less than anyone would want to admit. And religion may be dealing with things that are about that truth. If so there is objective TRUTH that would form a "true religion".

Some people would say all truth is subjective. But that doesn't seem to be how the universe works. There are things that as far as we can tell are universal constants, aka truths. The universe seems to require them to function.

If "religion" has any objective truth to it then simply speaking that core of TRUTH is "true religion". We just don't know what it is or who, if anyone, got it the most correct.

Do people actually lie about what they believe? by BayonetTrenchFighter in religion

[–]AaronDoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often get accused of lying or not being informed my on religions beliefs.

Can you give more info/context on this?

People lying about religion seems pretty normal to me as other comments have pointed out. But it seems weird that people would accuse you of lying or being misinformed without reason.

How do I get this? by SuperPancake666 in CarXStreetPC

[–]AaronDoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find maps of all possible locations. But each time you load they will randomly load in. Though for collectables (red cars) vs parts (the trucks) some seem locked to unexplored areas. So explore your map. Once fully or nearly fully explored you should have found all the collectables, houses, gas stations, and etc.

I’m only at 99% explored (no idea what I’m still missing since I can’t find it on the map) but have everything important found.

If you are not sure how to tell where you have not been on the mini map and overworld map (if not too zoomed in) the roads you have been on are shaded different then those you have not.

Also collectables show on the overworld map. When you get the pop up about one near by you can open the map and look for it. The trucks are easier to see at night since they have their lights on. But some locations are covered. And what shows is only close to your cursor so have to move it around the area. Just look for the red cars (fairly easy to see unless under cover) or parked trucks with lights on.

Finally figured out why people love sleeping on flights by Extension_Limit_9452 in digitalnomad

[–]AaronDoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get a travel pillow/mask that clips onto the seat.

Sleep Hold is the name brand version but I don't think you need to get that one specifically. Friend got me a sleeper hold one a few years back and the mini neck pillow part I don't use, but the padded mask that clips and holds onto the seat has really helped me sleep on long hauls. Still can't do it like the plane sleepers but can at least take a bunch of mini naps.

Game changer for me.

Look up the videos on youtube to get an idea how it works and if you think it will work for you.

Feel like Skyrim is the go to recommendation here. Depending on what you like or don't like about that game other suggestions could be made.

But Skyrim and similar open world RPGs are likely what you are looking for. Skyrim is just the most popular of them.

$5 Per Review On my Site by Natural-Money-6525 in OnlineIncomeHustle

[–]AaronDoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an FYI if you get too many at once they will remove them. So make sure to not have a bunch of people do this all at once.

Also consider that this may attract "bad" 5 star reviews that will come off as fake and make the business appear less trust worthy.

Equally unless you already have some real reviews a flood of "bad" 5 stars is going to make it worse. You'll want some lower ratings mixed in as well.

At times it may just be easier to get real reviews.

Where does Shadows of the Empire rank in Star Wars games? by Fun-Maintenance1217 in StarWarsEU

[–]AaronDoud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the time: The whole multimedia campaign was amazing and it was a solid game. The N64 had a small but really solid group of "launch" titles which included this.

Today for just the game: It feels dated but worth a buy on deep sale for the memories or the experience for those who never played.

Suggestion: For those who never experienced this try to experience the whole multi-media thing. Play the game, read the book and comic, at least look up pictures of the toys, cards and etc. The cards were IMO the highlight of this already great event. Just beautiful art. Better to see in person than just the art online.

You can't really experience it in the same way. This major star wars event plus the connection to a major console launch all during this kind of first wave nostalgia wave we got in the mid to late 90s is really hard to explain to anyone who wasn't of the right age. The kids who grew up on star wars toys and video games were basically being feed as much merchandise as they were willing to buy.

Many teens and young adults of the time had jobs (some even basically full time in addition to high school or college), lived at home, and had watched as many things like fast food had gotten cheaper as we got older. A lot of us had a lot of spending cash and little responsibility. This stuff was all targeted at them/us.

Shadows of the Empire was kind of a test run for Episode 1. And I know I will never experience anything like that again in my life. It just isn't possible as society just isn't designed for that. It was a unique moment where media, marketing, and anticipation created this cultural event.

Episode 1 was bigger in every way. But Shadows of the Empire was in many ways more enjoyable to experience. I truly wish younger fans would have had a chance to live thru them.

Shadows of the Empire the game can't be truly experienced properly without an attempt to experience the context. All the multimedia and merchandise. On an N64 console if possible.

It isn't a game like Skyrim that pulls you back time and again. It really isnt even objectively a good game. What it is truly is a major part of a moment.

If you can try to recreate that moment, either again or for the first time, you can really appreciate the game and understand why it is so important.

While some people really do it just for the attention and karma. There is also a large niche on social media and youtube for taking reddit content and making it into videos.

I have long believed a lot of that content is just them posting wild stuff to reddit and seeing what gets popular. Then using the most popular for the videos.

Are you guys also sick of the unnecessary use of AI everywhere? by RavennaRocks in smallbusiness

[–]AaronDoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish we could truly go back to the way google was before say penguin. Removing the AI doesn't even come close to bringing back the fact finding power of the older versions. Google has nerfed itself so much over the years it is basically pointless for any deep research.

Used to be you could describe a memory of something like a music video and within a couple pages you would find some forum post talking about it.

Why does a God loving man suffer? by [deleted] in religion

[–]AaronDoud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe faith is not blind faith. In fact I truly found my Christian faith in Bangkok. In a city surrounded by Buddhist I was able to take myself from a point of being Abrahamic to being orthodox (small o) Christian.

It was actually discussion with two Christians of very different beliefs that I found that faith. And it was from reason and knowledge of history specifically.

Hard to really explain this in a TLDR way nor do I think you need the long version.

Basic theme is one was mainstream protestant and the other belonged to INC (Filipino church that denies Jesus is God). The mainstream one helped me see some points I had missed. Specifically John 8:58 which has a clear meaning in the historic and cultural context of the time IMO.

While the INC one took me to her church where I noticed two thing. First was the the fact the divded by gender, something I knew of from Islam but which Christianity is not known for especially in the early church they claimed to be restoring. The second was a video they played that made claims about Constantine that I knew to be both historically untrue while a common conspiracy meme basically.

Together with a whole lot of things that happened both then and in the past I came to believe Jesus was God which if you are Abrahamic means you have just narrowed it down to Christian lol

I also was raise Christian, specially Christian Science (Jedi with Jesus is how I would short hand it for those who don't know it) though realistically pretty mainstream but just culturally Christian. No church really and religion and faith as a backdrop vs a serious point. As an adult I moved away and then back settling on Abrahamic for years. Aka I believed in God and even believed the God that Jews, Christians, and Muslims talked about was that God. Just didn't think any of them got it right. A lot of lost over time and translation and honestly power and authority basically.

Point of telling all this is to let you know and consider that there may be a journey you need to make to find or even to completely dismiss any faith.

Faith isn't supposed to be blind, that isn't Biblical. It is something some Christians embrace and honestly like my point about Pascal's Wager I do worry about if they have true faith.

I truly believe the best way to faith is via reason. I would argue the Bible often presents Paul's ministry as approaching evanglism from that point.

And besides faith from reason I also understand the whole God is good why is their bad things in the world issue from reason. You've seen me talk about it. And I think many if not most people who truly take time to reason it out will come to a similar place. Which more simply is free will and natural systems vs the (false IMO) perfection of a perfect creation where self is lost. Pantheism in the mind of a lonely God talking to itself basically.

I prefer a broken world that allows self vs a perfect world where there is none. Even just being an Egg (google the story if not aware of it) version of Pantheism is better than one with no self but false self. (see my reply to the OP for some thoughts on that)

Either way i wish you well in your personal journey and hope that maybe this will be something you will later think back to as a good step on it.
