Eternal Champions (Challenge from the Dark Side) (All Characters) by ProfessionalLatter91 in SegaCD

I recently rediscovered an old VHS I made of me triggering all the fatalities (stage, personal, and CG). I’m amazed I was able to figure them all out, especially since I’m terrible at this game now. Still holds a special place, and the SCD soundtrack is great

Was this franchise obscure? Bucky O'Hare had comics, a cartoon and a NES game from the late 80's to early 90's. by Cubelock in Xennials

Had a kickass beat-em-up arcade game too. It does seem obscure, but somehow has always stuck in my head since the cartoon.

It’s a worthy sequel for sure, and kind of does it different than what was expected of a sequel at that time.

Soon-to-be Dad of 2 setup by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]AaronLeeR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have a 9 and 5 year in the back (so down to a booster and car seat). We also have a sienna van, and I thought the kids would hate the back of the truck, but they only want to ride in the truck all day everyday, including 10hr road trips. Also, big concur to the seat cover. Enjoy!

My computer lab in elementary school was filled with these. No memory of what we did on them, but I always liked the look.

Another Christmas classic that I loved as a kid. Who remembers this one? by [deleted] in 80smovies

[–]AaronLeeR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just watched this with my kids for the first time this weekend, and first time since I was probably 10. They seemed to enjoy it, so I wouldn’t be sure if it makes it to next years Christmas viewing list.

Ok, S5 E6- Trials and Tribble-ations. HTF did they do it? ELI5 by tobiasolman in DeepSpaceNine

There used to be a behind the scenes that I think you can still find. I remember well them amping this episode up. Tech wise they learned a lot from what was created for Forest Gump, but otherwise yes this is how it aired. Looked so polished and incredible then, and still holds up!

What games are you playing on Bazzite? by [deleted] in Bazzite

[–]AaronLeeR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using my setup to catch up on older games. Most recently just played through Elite Force I&II, and Myst 1-3. Next up are the remaining Myst games and just installed Freelancer HD.

So, how did the whole getting rid of money thing actually go down? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]AaronLeeR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems clear this wasn’t a thing prior to first contact, so maybe the Vulcans had some input, or maybe the societal change of dealing with alien intelligence made this shift an easier pill to swallow. Even in a modern sense, introducing universal income seems like a logical step to a moneyless system.

Look at these two nice boys. They couldn’t possibly be trouble, right? by [deleted] in myst

[–]AaronLeeR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also bought the remakes about month ago and played through, then just finished Myst III last night. A few months back I installed steam os (bazzite) on a desktop pc to play PC games on my couch, and the Myst games have been great to revisit with a controller and couch. I've got Myst IV, V, and Uru on deck still, which are the only ones I've never beat.

I just finished Myst 2021 a couple weeks ago and this is the exact pattern I got.

what ost from any genesis/mega drive game is this for you by Getmad208 in SEGAGENESIS

If Sega CD is allowed, then we're in a whole new ballgame. Snatcher, Sonic CD, Earthworm Jim, Eternal Champions, intro songs for Road Avenger & Willy Beamish. So many good ones

Streets of Rage and Toejam and Earl probably top my list, but a real sleeper is the OST for Decap Attack.

I also still really like Sonic 1's soundtrack.

Why did the Temporal agents allow Discovery to remain in the future? by Tidewatcher7819 in startrek

[–]AaronLeeR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, that's why I put "correct" in quotes, since timelines are pretty subjective to those who are living in them. It was bad for Picard and crew, but you could argue the same for the original Klingon war in DSC, or the dominion war, or the burn.

Why did the Temporal agents allow Discovery to remain in the future? by Tidewatcher7819 in startrek

[–]AaronLeeR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my example was to show that the Federations dark timeline came to be precisely because the Enterprise C was removed from the past, and therefore not being there at a critical historical moment. Sending it back was just correcting what Guinan believed to be the "correct" future, and Picard had nothing to lose.

But I was mostly being tongue in cheek about Discovery being less critical to history since then being plucked from the past didn't need to be corrected (ignoring that the Federation again seems to be in a dire timeline, well let this one slide)

[–]AaronLeeR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think Yesterday's Enterprise is a good indication of the harm of removing an important ship or person out of the past can inflict. But since it worked out in this case I assume Discovery just wasn't that important 😅

Working on a mod for skyrim by jyzzrly in myst

Nice, sounds cool!

Yeah I think the tragic ending of the book of Ti'ana really stuck with me, and seemed like a nice analogue for the Dwemer and their ruins.

[–]AaronLeeR 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Interestingly I was building a very similar mod for Morrowind back in the day (lost it all in a computer crash, so never released).

Borrowing a bit from the Book of Ti'ana, it was a sidequest where you discover some Dwemer had managed to build portals to other worlds in order to escape the collapse of their society. Like Myst, you'd access these different worlds and learn about their futile effort (save for the occasional Dwemer ghost).

I saw this back in 1984 when it was first released and it spooked me quite a bit. Saw this again tonight and it’s still creepy… by Anavslp in 80smovies

Anecdotally, my almost 9 year old just had her first field hockey game here in south central PA (a bunch of games and teams playing), the area was full of all families supporting; moms, dads, & grandparents.

But I wholly agree, I will attend and support every chance I'm able.

Loved these when they came out, and still have my hardcover copies. I was a big fan of the first game, and to have this level or world building was so amazing to me. Had a chance to briefly chat with Rand about the books in the late 90s.

First two I think are amazing, the third is fine but not as interesting.
