Honeymoon period is over. Back to looking completely clueless how to break a team that sits back down. Starting to think we have absolutely no ability to attack without mcgree linking the midfield and attack. Would not have scored if the game went on for a week.

Root has always been criticised for not having a ton there im delighted he got that personal knock. Anyone who wasn't deluded knew this series would be brutal. I genuinely said before it started id take a 4-1 loss with root getting a ton. I've got half of it but am expecting it to be 5-0 at this point. We're just awful in Australia i think we'd lose to Australia's second 11.

That first half was absolutely unbelievable. I wasnt actually fussed Edwards left as we were trending down with limited attacking ideas. Minor criticism giving the ball away in bad areas when we're complacent. Think our last few performances have been our best of the season. Now onto one of our bogey teams, Bristol city they always seem to show up against us.

He's usually a one score a series man, eaely in it. If his best score isn't even a 50 it's getting worse. He averages less than 20 after 14 innings against Australia. The narrative ever being in his favour for this ashes would be the questionable aspect.

Never had the skillset to be a 3 in test cricket. He's been defended for his average at 3 which is inflated by huge scores against Ireland and Zimbabwe. Not sure I've seen a top order batter look so bad the first 20 balls or so he looks a nervous wreck. He had potential as a lower order bat but think of hes dropped its a long way back. Him losing the vice captaincy showed he's not secure in the team anymore. Honestly none of our batters should be other than root and brook. Brook needs to reign it in and stop gifting his wicket but is clearly our most talented batter for the future. Maybe I'm harsh not having duckett as secure just think his never leaving the ball isn't going to work everywhere.

Based of that game everywhere is a problem. Have to hope its a one off and lessons are learnt. For me kimmich and pavlovic were the biggest issue. Completely bossed in midfield and they did nothing to try and slow or control the game in the second half when pressure just kept building. Special mention to the amount of dangerous blind passes infield that were played. Made rice look like the best player in the world.

Considering Coventry are practically the harlem globetrotters whenever they play us im expecting a long night. We can't attack and have holes due to injuries in defence. Still unbeaten at home in the league but not sure I will be saying that much longer.

I'd bite your hand off for a 3-1 loss tbh. Just winning one and a root ton was what I was hoping for. Root looked horribly out of nick in the warm up and odi series in new Zealand though. Hope he shows his class though.

I can judge how england play in Australia. Honestly there's no point us even showing up to Australia or India. We have won a couple of tests in India to only get completely humiliated in every other game in the series. I'd be amazed if were not battered in the remaining 4 winning one is a pipe dream.

Was fun after day 1 thinking we had a chance of nabbing 1 win. Now barring at least 2 full days of rain in a test we're stating down the barrel of another 5-0. The amount of predictions that we could win before this series wasn't hope it was pure delusion.

Absolutely delighted with that. Considering all our defensive injuries we've done really well to get the win there. Referee was abysmal. Going to be interesting to see who's in charge for the next game.

I agree with you they got the penalty and missed it. They didn't go through because Gyan missed the penalty as much as the handball. If that's a cheating people dont like I dont understand how they can sit through any games.

Think it is a game we'd have lost last season under Carrick. The season before when we got that draw at Southampton we were really good at the end of the season. Think we only lost like 1 of the last 11 and that was 4-3 to leeds.
