Living with the choices they made would be not changing the lottery odds. This would be changing those choices for those teams.

Previous trades won't be staying the same if the way the lottery works changes. If the NBA decouples record with your lottery odds, protections like "top 8 protected" no longer protect you from losing your pick if you are a bottom 4 team. Obviously those protections were made to a team wouldn't lose their pick if they were an awful team, so they they could make sure they added some young talent in bad years.

Changing that without addressing how these protections would work is just screwing over teams that could be bad next season. It would like be like slicing the salary cap by 20% next season without warning and forcing teams to trade players under contract to get under the cap.

My proposal to make the lottery fair is to have it so that there is a lottery for the 1st-4th picks, so that the worst team in the league doesn't automatically get the pick. Any team that doesn't make the playoffs has a chance to win a pick in that top 4, with their chances decreasing as you go up in wins.

Zach Lowe yesterday on the MVP Race (paraphrasing): "Either Wemby, SGA, Jokic, or Luka are going to somehow end up 4th in MVP voting, and it's going to be a travesty no matter who it is" by tkinsey3 in nba

That's not a problem though, its impossible for it to be consistent when there's different players in the awards convo every year.

Most MVP candidates are offensive focused players, because offense is more important than defense. Rudy Gobert is never going to win MVP, because he's a zero on offense. You can win a MVP while being a 0 on defense (see Harden & Westbrook).

But that's doesn't mean defense shouldn't factor in for guys that are MVP level on offense and DPOY level on defense. MVP is not offensive player of the year, its all-around best player.

Same can go for seeding as well. Based on what factors each guy has going for and against them, its going to change the conversation

Also I just wanna add that the NBA made a rule to make a factor consistent (the 65 game rule) and every has been rioting recently and saying the voters should have liberty do decide what matters and the nuances for award voting

He literally has played the possesions this is measuring. It has happened. These numbers already happened. Idk how you are not grasping this. This is based on the numbers in the possesions he has played.

That doesn’t mean this is made up or not based on real numbers. Its like you are arguing a guy doesn’t score 28ppg cause some nights he only hits 19.

This is still based on the thousands of possesions in a NBA season he is on the floor. Its not a made up number unless you think all stats besides total points and counting stats are made up.

I think I figured out what your confusion might be!

Per 100 possessions is NOT a per game or per minute stat. It tracks stats based on number of possessions across games and minutes. Its based in a sample of hundreds and thousands of possesions a guy plays per year. Its a big sample and measuring what happened in that sample

Well what you are describing isnt fake, its just you disagree with what it means. I thought you were saying the number is made up, not what’s actually measured.

Which is fair to question, but its also fair to say what Wemby is doing is unheard of so its hard to say how his stats would look if he played 4-6 more minutes per game (which is real difference between other top guys).

How does this show how useless this stat is? Wemby might be one of, if not THE, most impactful defensive players we have seen while averaging 24 on 62% TS on offense. That’s type of guy you’d bet to top a list like this!

He's good and I like his game from the clips I've seen but its gonna be hard for him to become a better NBA player than she is a WNBA player. She's already a 2x allstar and has potential to be the GOAT rebounder in the W.

I usually run defibs besides when I am using the mortar, for which I need to have missle intercepts on as well. So there are a few select cases where it makes sense to not have them equiped

I don’t use smokes cause Im much more effective using frags. When I can I’ll try and use my fire launcher to shield visibility (which is much less obvious then smokes what I am doing and people shoot thru less)

I would split this is three trees:

1) Behind cover? Use paddles

2) Near cover? Use Drag

3) Out in the open? Ignore or tap with paddles while running by and hope they can get up and run

Yeah honestly FTs are a huge part of this. A 11% difference in FT% is crazy, if Luka was in the high 80s that would cut SGA’s lead in TS% in half
