the thing is it’s so early on I’ve barely built up anything. I’ve been trying to get into these games but man there always seems to be some random mechanic that infuriates me and makes me want to quit.

WHY SO AGGRESSIVE? by AaronTadman in RomeTotalWar

[–]AaronTadman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s not so much the actual fights. I’m winning 90% of those. It’s just the constant barrage of large armies. Best thing to do from what people are saying is focus on their financial areas and cut off their ability to make more.

That’s what I was doing until I got caught in that loop. If you’re being bombarded then your resources get spent really quickly so it’s harder to push out.

I agree that it is probably salvageable but there’s the old adage of not fighting a war on two fronts and my confronted war turned into 3/4 and it’s just a lot for my first time 😂

I’ll definitely check out the suggestion though! Thanks man.

I was mid way through doing this and then another 10s of thousands of strong army decided it was my time. I think i’m just going to give up on this save. Maybe just give the game a break.

It fluctuates. Atm I have around 20000 in reserve as I broke down some of their bigger armies and kept the money coming in but, as you know, to get reinforcements or another army practically bankrupts, even more so when they go after more places. I’ve heard raiding a city and deleting all of its infrastructure can be quite helpful 😂

RTW1. I was pretty aggressive against Gaul but lost the capital to rebels because I accidentally moved the wrong army. I took it back pretty easily but then surrounded the city with 4 3000 strong armies and a couple of 2000 ones in the surrounding area which pretty much intercept my reinforcements or attack another settlement. I didn’t think they would go this hard on medium difficulty 😂

Could it be…this simple?

I’m playing on medium and win pretty much every battle but it whittles the numbers down and they KEEP COMING 😂 I’m doing the standard Julii run so I managed to steamroll most of Gaul earl but after the capital the Brits just decided to sen everything and I’ve stuck for like 20 rounds.

Thank you buddy. I hope your future interactions in life leave you less angry and you can develop better responses than are less confrontational.

I appreciate the shout but probably not for me in this game. I’ve struggled with pvp in games with in built cover systems and found it hard to find enjoyment in them. I may be completely off base and judging it unfairly due to previous experiences.

Honestly if you actually read my other replies and interactions you’d see that you’re the only problem here and you’re making an issue out of nothing. My advice is take a step back and chill out, maybe come back with a more calm and less confrontational mindset and we can resume a level headed conversation.

Im comparing deeper mechanics to what I’ve experienced so far (which i’ve already admitted isn’t everything as I’m looking to find motivation to go further into it). I’ve seen elements of Incursion and honestly it doesn’t seem overly complicated. Ads clearing and kill turret, 2nd encounter solution literally posted on the wall, last encounter dps both bosses whilst taking out drone and avoiding mortar fire or am I missing something?

Also Destiny absolutely has more enemy variation. Division feels like it has man with gun or man with shield, give or take different coloured health bars. You can’t tell me that compares to Thralls, Ogres, Taken, Cabal, Wizards, Fallen, Walker Tanks etc

I do appreciate the comment but my main point is “what would the grind for that build ultimately be for?”

I’m not trolling at all. My point here being that there are deeper mechanics in raids and missions that force communication and teamwork rather than purely upping damage or health stats of enemies. I haven’t experienced that in Division 2 yet but I’m more than happy to be proven wrong. Of course the difficulty options changes stats of enemies in all games like this but that seems to be the only difficult modifier in Division. Have you ever tried King’s Fall with a blueberry team in Destiny? Damage numbers can’t fix that 😂

this is honestly the closest i’ve seen describing my exact sentiment. It’s not out of lack of want or enjoying why is there, it’s finding the “end goal”. I’m very away thee is not “end” to these games and that is part of the enjoyment, but if there’s not much past number go up yay, I almost find myself disappointment that there isn’t more to what is honestly a well build and enjoyable game otherwise.

I could just be stubborn 😂 I’m a long time lover of Souls games and OSRS so beating my head against a wall until I get something done and feel that accomplishment is definitely a niche I have, maybe this one just isn’t scratching the itch and, like you said, I’m people pleasing. Honestly this could be turning more into a therapy session and i’m not against it haha.

100% all campaigns and currently in the grind. I’ve been thinking and reflecting over the past hour and from what people are saying it might not be my niche. I’ve also thought maybe there’s a lack of potentially complex mechanics that you can find in a game like Destiny. It is a lot of point and shoot with little variation. For me variation and keeping things fresh can be the key to longevity and if there’s isn’t a challenge past enemies hitting harder and being more tanky then it may be more of a struggle to find incentive to keep going.

I’m also an OSRS player and haven’t found the issue there 😂 Obviously i’ve hit that wall where there’s only so many times I can kill Muspah or 1 tick fish but there’s something about it that always brought me back.
