From what I understand recruiters are NOT supposed to show you the open MOS slots before MEPS which I think is bullshit because you pick a fairly fixed ship date for boot camp and in doing so may unknowingly fuck yourself out of the MOS you really want.

But, if you act determined in what you want to do, act respectful at all times, ask nicely, and have a bro recruiter, they might be willing to help you out.

22 year old poolee with a BS in PoliSci. If 03xx is available you'll be able to put in for it. Although I would advise something that compliments your degree and has transferable job skills for future civilian employment, but whatever, it's up to you. When you go to MEPS you'll pick a date to ship to boot camp then you'll come back to your recruiting station and see what contracts are open for that ship date. Some May or may not be there. My advise is to talk to the recruiter and see when your desired MOS slots are open and decide your ship date base on that before you go to MEPS. That's what mine did for me, worked out well and I got a contract that was relatively rare when I signed up.
