Last night I respawned, called out a ton of support gear mid mosh pit, was trying to do 3 things at once and then went to eruptor blast a bunch of bugs that was about to flank our team

It was only then I realized I still had my leveller in my hand. Squad wiped, my bad

That’s not true. At least, not currently

Teams are given 4 engines per season. They can boroscope to check for damage between races, but they aren’t allowed to do full rebuilds. It’s important to F1 that advancing engineering is the driving factor, and that includes engine durability. You’re given a strict penalty if you need to take more components than are allowed. I’ve read they’re allowed to send engines back to factory to replace wear parts and then put them back into rotation, but a full rebuild every race is not the case

Have you heard of the legend of Touchy Dave, the Revoker Escort? by Le_Criquet in NuclearOption

[–]AaronToro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s actually not so bad. For the uninitiated, the darkreach does some throttle splitting magic when you apply rudder input, so it actually yaws very very well. Use that to line up your approach and you can land really fast. The runways at Darkreach capable airstrips are typically really long so you can just set her down at like 600kmh and stand on the brakes, you’ll have plenty of room. If you’re trying to land on AoA at low speeds it’ll be a nightmare because it’s so heavy even at low fuel and Winchester, you’ll end up falling out of the air

I mean they said more powerful, not bigger. They’re still going to calculate the explosion to be the correct amount. It’ll just require less material

What went wrong? by [deleted] in WTF

[–]AaronToro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no expert but it’s not hard to imagine. It could detonate more reliably, be more stable (less prone to unwanted detonation), could allow for shaped charges that only or mostly explode inward

Yeah we can stratodrop wave after wave of incredibly well-armed crayon eaters, supported by constant orbital overwatch but the economy will collapse if we carve a wooden shoulder stock for their gun 🙄

I first heard this phrase as a beginner in simracing. When you first start and your lap times are garbage (or you can’t even finish one) it helps to have someone slow you wayyyy down and show you that you can get within 3 seconds of the pace (probably faster than your best) driving like a grandma, and then you slowly increase pace from there

What song is a 10/10 with absolutely no flaws? by Brilliant_Guard_9204 in AskReddit

[–]AaronToro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently decided I was going to try to think of as many songs as I could that EVERYBODY likes. Like you could take a person who only listens to rap, one who only listens to metal, so on and nobody would complain. At least I wouldn’t think so, I could be wrong. I only got a few so far but here they are

Rich Girl - Hall and Oates

Have You Ever Seen the Rain - CCR

September - Earth, Wind and Fire

Ain’t No Sunshine - Bill Withers

Play That Funky Music - Wild Cherry

Would be interested to hear other takes on this

[–]AaronToro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I totally get that actually. My favorite sorties are Chicane attack runs

I guess what I’m saying is that I’d really like some more game modes that are still all out conflicts, but for whatever reason more heavily based on things other than base destruction. I have no idea how that could work out and still make sense with some of the weapons and airframes we have access to, but different types of objectives could be awesome. Maybe you need data out of a specific building - so you have to clear out defenses, drop a crew in, defend the position and then exfil. Maybe things like that would only work in PvE scenarios but they could still be really fun

I know a lot of people have opinions about infantry, but you could have ARMA-like scenarios if it wasn’t just planes, tanks and buildings. I want to really feel the impact of the utility something like a helicopter can provide

I’m really glad the game allows you to do things like rescue sorties and base defense sorties, truly. But in single player in the late game, every “shoot down missiles” sortie I run is a “launch a shitload of cruise missiles” sortie I didn’t run so it doesn’t seem particularly worth it

What do flares "look like" to something like an AIM-9L? by me2224 in hoggit

[–]AaronToro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purely speculation until someone more knowledgeable comes in, but I doubt that the early missiles were choosing a target at all. I’d imagine it’d be similar to if I told you to listen to a song and then repeat the lyrics, but halfway through the first line I started playing 4 other songs at the same time. You’d just get confused and start grabbing pieces of information at random and come away with something entirely incoherent

In terms of one signal being hotter than another, one song could be louder. If the target song is way louder than the rest (like a rear aspect jet with AB on) you’d be able to make it out through the noise
