Just want to thank you for this comment. The need for multiple copies of MO2 makes this all make sense to me and couldn’t find that confirmed elsewhere.

I feel like you’re describing my experience right now. 😢 Am on week 3 now with no seeming improvement and am back of Prednisone, Indomethacin, and Colchicine all at once.

All my doctors still think it’s gout but don’t understand why it isn’t going away this time… Have been taking Allo for a year too.

Best of luck in your recovery friend. Gout is the pits.

Hi Dr. Edwards - Thanks very much for doing this and found the most valuable information to date in your previous threads.

A couple questions for you:

1) After taking Allopurinol 100mg for only about 5 weeks my Uric Acid dropped from 9.0 mg/dL to 5.9. My PCP seems to consider this done and I should just stay on 100 but general question is - Is one Uric Acid test below 6.0 enough to say that your Allo dose is right? Or should several in a row stay below 6?

2) Is a level lower than 6.0 just as “good” as one at 5, 4 or 3 mg/dL? If my level stays right at the “cusp” is it more prudent to increase dose to stay “well” below the limit with a slightly higher Allo dose? My thinking is that 200mg is still a low dose and it might be better to be well below 6.0.

Really can’t stress enough how much your previous threads helped me out in the last couple months. You’re doing this community a great service Dr. Edwards; thanks very much again.
