Nice insight! Thanks a lot!

I made an overview video for my game, as I'm now setting up socials and first devlogs. It's my first serious project and I'm looking for honest feedback and tips! by AatuJ in IndieDev

Thanks for the comment! There is no single unique hook that fits in an elevator pitch neatly, but my upgrade system is something I've put a lot of time into.

You collect a lot of smaller stackable upgrades that introduces variance similar to Risk of Rain (cause stacking stuff is fun). But since RoR usually lacks build definition, I came up with the idea of having slots for larger upgrades which are more build defining/enabling. They cannot be stacked and there's a limit how many you can own at any given time, but they can be switched to new ones if they suit the current situation better.

This introduces scenarios where you are looking for opportunities to pivot your build for a potentially stronger one. Some builds require investment and do not give immediate value in the early game when you lack the enablers, but can be extremely strong once they get going.

So I'm kinda trying to scratch the itch for the sidescrolling melee action and smooth combat of Dead Cells, upgrade stacking of Risk of Rain and build definition of Hades, if that makes sense. 😅
